NBA Playoffs!
Wanted to make this thread when it began but I forgot. Now it's round two, and here are the matchups:
EASTERN CONFERENCE Chicago Bulls (1) vs Atlanta Hawks (5) My prediction: Bulls in 4. Even though the Hawks have been playing kinda good in the playoffs so far, I foresee a sweep, because the Hawks have been the most inconsistent team in the NBA, and Derrick Rose, the league's MVP favorite, is just too good of a closer to let them win a game at all. Of course, this could also be because I'm biased towards my home (and favorite) team heh. At least I admit it. Boston Celtics (3) vs Miami Heat (2) My prediction: Heat in 6. Miami's "Big Three" (James, Wade, and Bosh) are still exponentially good in terms of scoring, but the Celtics have their own cast of superstars, plus a waaay better bench, so they'll definitely give the Heat some problems. However, I think the Heat will come out through this series strong. WESTEN CONFERENCE Memphis Grizzlies (8) vs Oklahoma City Thunder (4) My prediction: Thunder in 7. "Really, A2P? 7 games?" Yes!!!!!! When the Grizzlies closed out the series last night, I was sooooo so happy, because I always love a good upset story, and the way that they're playing right now, they can really become a great team in the future. However...Thunder has a deadly weapon at their disposal named "Kevin Durant." 30+ppg? That's pretty scary for a fairly young player. Still, the Grizzlies will fight, and I actually have my heart rooting for them. Dallas Mavericks (3) vs Los Angeles Lakers (2) My prediction: Dallas in 6. Kobe's kinda injured (although to be honest he's not slowing down that much), Gasol hasn't been playing at his best level, and the Lakers, although still a really good team, have been in kind of a slump. Meanwhile, Nowitzki is still a beast, Chandler's been having a hell of a game, and I really think the Mavs will pull through this series. I am in no way a sports expert, but these are my predictions. Feel free to share yours! Last edited by A2P; 04-30-2011 at 10:38 AM.. |

Re: NBA Playoffs!
Hahahaha....
Come on man. Could you be any more of a Bulls homer? Picking the Bulls to sweep and the Lakers to lose in 6? Please. Lakers have more talent at every single position except point guard. Yes, that includes power forward (Gasol + Odom > Dirk). They are more experienced, better coached, and just flat out better. Based simply on talent, Lakers in 5. But since I know the Lakers tend to just disappear in a game or 2 per series, I will say Lakers in 6. The Bulls will absolutely drop a game to the Hawks. The Hawks are just a better version of the Pacers. Bulls in 6 I am cool with the Thunder pick. Home court should be the tipping point in this series. About the Heat Celtics... I can see the Heat winning but it will take 7 games. They aren't tough enough to go into Boston and clinch the series, IMO. I still think the Celtics will win this series. I say Celtics in 6. Edit: Yeah, you have every right to call me a Lakers homer too Although I will say that a) I have watched people pick against L.A. for 11 years and 90 percent of the time, they are just flat out wrong and b) I watch a LOT of basketball, so while I may be biased, I am educated.

Re: NBA Playoffs!
I could buy all of your predictions for sure, a2p. reasons why:
-hawks got swept (brutally) by the magic last year. different team for sure, but still, I could see them going away easily after losing the first 2. -the heat trio look rather unstoppable at the moment, and though the celtics swept their series, I still consider them a question mark due to the Perkins trade. -the grizzlies look fantastic. randolph is a beast. this should be a ****ing exciting series. -toughest buy out of these, but if the mavs have a few hot shooting nights, they could definitely move on. I've got: chicago in 5 (bulls a bit soft, but so are the hawks) boston in 6 (hate the celtics but can't bring myself to pick against 'em) OKC in 6 (but I wouldn't be surprised if it were memphis in 6) lakers in 7 (lakers don't look as good to me this year, but they refuse to lose) I'm no sports expert either, haha. may the best team win! ...unless it's the celtics. |

Re: NBA Playoffs!
The Mavs have been knocking on the championship door for what, 8 years now? It's about time Dirk got rewarded for all the years of hard work he's put in. Lakers/Heat/Celtics can win again next year.
From a local standpoint, it seems like Mark Cuban is way more motivated to win this one than he ever has been before. In all the playoff bids in the past, never before has he tried to publicize the Mavs as much as he has been this year. |

Re: NBA Playoffs!
Mavs have a lot to work on if they want to beat the Celtics. They have a lot of points from inside the zone which Boston isn't going to let them do very easily.

Re: NBA Playoffs!
Memphis really caught me by surprise. At the beginning of the year I thought they had one of best starting lineups in the game, but also one of the worst benches. Their bench players have really stepped up so far in the playoffs. Z-bo going crazy in the post (and actually passing it occasionally) has helped also.
Still, they probably won't beat the Thunder in a seven game series. The Bulls should take care of the Hawks pretty easily if they go back to their defensive principles. The Lakers-Mavs and Heat-Celtics series should be fun to watch. Go Bucks!!!!
