BOO! ( but no, seriously )
Hi all. Doubt anyone remembers me. I'm one of those " I've been gone a long time! " people. Imagine my surprise when I came back and saw I was still ranked in the top 1k. Anywho, this thread was one, to say hi ( HI! ), and two, to ask some advice. See, last time I tried FFR it was over a year and change ago, and I played a few songs here and there over a few months, and before that it was BEFORE ffr went down ( is that still something people remember? ). So basically, it has been a LONG time since I have "played" ffr. Now I am having a few problems....
One, what is up with the new difficulty numbers? Was my advice actually taken and numbers changed to reflect different difficulty in levels? 8's are now 30+ it seems, so I THINK I'm right, and ya I could forum search, but someone loves me and will answer me Two, I started long ago ( as in almost 5 years ) at 1 speed, then moved to 1.75 and loved it, BUT, coming back, 1.75 seems to drop to fast What do you guys think, should I drop back down and start ALL over again, OR, should I just start on all the low lvl songs I had already AAA'd @1.75 and learn again? Am I just getting older and 1.75 is too fast for me? I have no clue any more... hence me asking. Also, since I SUCK ASS now, but still wanted to get back into the game by doing MP like I did WAY back in the day, is there anyone out there willing to level off me in MP KNOWING I now SUCK? I always found it hard to find a match because of my MP lvl, and I'm ASSUMING ( ya I know ) that it will be even worse now, since I can't play for a damn, but my ranks and MP make me out to seem like I am kinda good. Thanks in advance for any replies. As always, Peace, Shay

Sup Shay. Let me try to answer your questions as best as I can.

See this thread for more information about the new 1-20 difficulty naming system. The song list is not completely updated but it will tell you all of the new difficulty names. It is no longer from Easiest to VROFL. Quote:

I actually suggest you to play on 2.0x for a while until your eyes adjust and go back to 1.75x after. It will give you the illusion that everything is slow. \o

Re: BOO! ( but no, seriously )
@ILY
Thank you for the link, it helped a lot a affirmed what I thought, and what I had bitched about in one of my last posts on this forum. Nice to see it was changed! The problem I am having with that is, if I drop down, we all know higher speeds = greater spread in arrow drops = better skill. I am afraid that if I drop to a lower speed and then get comfortable with it, I will never get back to the skill level I once was at. Ya I started with what I remember was 4's and 5's, I can FC all of them, moved on to 8's and 9's ( IIRC ) and can FC them but get misses and boos but my Average Rank is taking a dump ( I don't really care it is the principal of the thing ) so I was not sure if I should just drop back to 1 speed and pretend I am a new player all over again ( I played a few more songs, this would be harder to do then I thought ). I saw a link to velocity for standalone for MP.... does velocity now have MP?! I think I am going to try this and just get butt rapped for awhile ). Thanks for the response. Peace, Shay

Mods don't really like when anyone does it. Also get used to your speed again, if you must drop to 1.50 till your common with the game again and then raise it back.

Velocity has MP, but it's separate from the legacy MP. It's empty almost all the time, so I think you'd have better luck finding a match using the legacy engine.

Listened to your sig. Love it. I should share someday some of the stuff I did years ago on Fruity Loops before you might have even been born :P Not a " I'm so cool ", but you might like it :P. P.S, Yes I know, way off topic. I'm awesome like that. Peace, Shay

I'd keep using 1.75 until you were comfortable with it. Moving up increases accuracy to some extent but reaction time takes a while to develop.

What I decided to do was keep playing all the old songs I LOVED @ my original speed, like Sakura No Kenshi and A World of Piano ( I did horrible at ) and of course anything by Ruast Black Dragon. I figure even if I do REALLY bad, hopefully it will get me back " In the groove ", so to speak. Peace, Shay

It is 10:17pm here, and I have to be up @6am here to put my kid on the bus, but thanks for trying to rape me anyway ( so nah I am going to bed in a few, listening to Nausicaa soundtrack ATM ).
Peace, Shay
