Default Spyware scared the hell out of me!

I was infected with Security toolbar 7.1!!! I have no idea how it got here but it got here?!

Bascially this is a VERY DANGEROUS trojan hacker (whatever) that is very hard to remove of if you are dumb.

Well what makes it VERY DANGEROUS you ask?
Well....

It automatically downloads like 10 trial versions of crap antispam stuff, and send you rampaging popups about buying full versions, adds flashing buttons notification, produces a tool bar (that can't be removed, or put away buy deselecting it when you right click), it changes your home page to random stuff, and worst of all it redirects you to other add sites when you go to other websites.
I think that covers it all, you can google it for more info.

Oh and here is a funny website I found in my page a day (funny websites) calender.
http://www.titane.ca/concordia/dfar251/igod/main.html

Well, my antivirus protector was messed up and did not show it in the spyware list, so I downloaded superantispyware free home edition, ran it and removed all of the components of this hack.

At first though, all theese rampaging popups and add, scared the hell out of me, and so did everything else.

You should be thankful if this or anything else has not happened to you. But it's gone now, and I got EnR's Team Tourny on my hands, so I'll leave this open to discussion about spyware and viruses you have had!

I've had a problem where random porn pics popped up as my desktop picture, screen saver, etc... and pop ups like crazy. Wasn't very funny.

I haven't had viruses or spyware in years...I keep my computer clean with a ton of antispyware programs, antiviruses, and firewalls. 8D

Run scans periodically. Update. Get better software.

Should prevent this from happening again.

Oh, and ix-nay on the porn. That should do it.

Or just be reasonably smart on porn. Skepticism is the key in finding a virus or spyware.

One time this happened to me. The internet was closed, and a whole bunch of popups kept... well, popping up. It's kind of scary. Every once in a while I would go and close out all of the popups that are up. Which can be up to 70-80 depending on how long it has been. We ran the antivirus system we had, but it didn't work. We ended up having to back up our hard drive and reinstall Windows.

Go anti-virus! Anyway, my old Windows ME (which I had less than 2 months ago =/) was so jacked up that I couldn't get on the internet anymore. One day I was on the internet, the next day, my modem wasn't working. Since I've had the new computer, it's pretty much clean from any spyware (thanks to Kaspersky), but I did have a spyware problem back in the day...I remember once playing FFR sometime about 2 years where a slew pop-ups came on during a song, not cool.

Sounds like you had a little fun. ^_^

The worst spyware/virus I ever encountered destroyed Norton and a whole bunch of other things on my computer. I would automatically get the blue screen of death if my computer idled for 10 minutes. It also destroyed several other crucial files. I don't even know what it was. My computer screen just flashed and then everything was messed. But I've long reformatted since then.

I run two computers in my room, the UBER GIGA MECHA GAMING COMPUTER OF DOOM (mine) and ... that other one... that my brother and sister use. My brother's been complaining about something that sounds similar to this. I should intervene and delete this pesk. Thanks for the heads up.

"Very hard to remove of if you are dumb..." Very hard to remove of?! That's doesn't even make sense...

And look at this... "that can't be removed, or put away buy deselecting it when you right click..." you are using buy in the wrong way, it should be "by"

Looks like your computer is screwed!!!! XD XP

I haven't had any serious virus or spyware infections. On my dad's computer I downloaded something which got into things a bit too privately, but that's it.

My current computer is protected by Symantec Antivirus and Firewall. I also run Spybot and Ad-Aware scans biweekly. I instantly scan anything I download before I open it. This has kept my computer virus-free for over a year, though to be honest, there's nothing I've ever scanned that has been registered as dangerous.
