Doujin singer 小宮真央 (Mao Komiya) retires

This is old news, but probably most of you won't know about it. Mao Komiya has stated publicly on her blog on May 29, 2011 that she will end her singing career due to contraction of an ulcer in the esophagus. (Single blog post here.)

A quick biography:

小宮真央 (Mao Komiya) is a doujin singer who has been an active singer since 2005. However, her activity level dropped sharply after 2008, though she has still provided vocals for songs as late as February 2011. She has collaborated with a multitude of artists, including t+pazolite and Shiki, whom FFR regulars should recognize. FFR even has one of the songs she performed in-game, arranged by t+pazolite: Okusenman! -Hardcore Mix-. (There might be more, but I'm not sure.) It's odd how many views some of her songs get, yet she remains unknown to most. Some attain hundreds of thousands or even over a million views. Examples:

喉に潰瘍ができました。しばらく治らないみたい。
何もしてなくてもすごい激痛が走っててご飯食べるのが苦痛でしかない。
自分、病弱なんです。
ネタとか構ってちゃんとかでなく、コレですよ。マジで弱すぎる。
辛すぎる。もうだめぽ。。
てなわけでそろそろサイトを閉めようと思います。
まぁこんなサイト見てる人少ないとは思いますが一応閉鎖まで猶予を持とうかと。
夏コミ辺りには消すかな？
お仕事は今までにもらった人達からのみ、もらえるならば…という感じで。
やりたいことも、やりのこしたことも、たくさんあるんだけど
もう私にはやりきる力はないし、やる資格もありません。
今まで楽しかったな。ありがとう。ありがとうございました。

An ulcer has arisen in my throat. It looks like I won't recover for a while.
I cannot do anything, intense pain is ongoing; eating food is nothing but a hardship.
I myself am assuredly in a state of weakness.
???, this is it. I seriously am weakening too much.
It's too unbearable. It's no good anymore...
???, it looks like I will be closing my site sometime soon.
Well, I think the number of people who view this site is low, but for the time being, I will postpone the closure.
Disappearing around the vicinity of summer Comiket, I wonder?
Because only the people who have received my works until now can receive it...so I feel.
The things I want to do, as well as the things that are left to do, are many, but

I'll miss Mao Komiya. I loved her wonderfully strong, powerful voice.

Well, thanks for the warm reception guys. I browsed around, and this is one of the coldest threads on FFR in terms of both replies and views.

Partial translation posted, but I'd love it if someone could help me out, since you can easily tell I'm not very good at this. Ha ha, I relied a lot on the Japanese-English dictionary.

Translation is often as much, if not more, art than science. Anyone who has studied a foreign language can understand this, I believe.

But yeah, an ulcer in her esophagus...I'm thinking bulimia from acid reflux, but it's always sad to see someone's star burn out before their time. Hope she gets better.

I enjoyed her vocals in Shiki's Replicage album, so it sucks to see another doujin singer leaving the scene.

This isn't getting much of a response seeing as she isn't quite well known to most people. I only heard of her from a few albums I have where she sings vocals, such as the aforementioned Shiki album.

Yeah, it'd be great if she could recover and continue to sing, but...

1) Illness
2) Activity level already started dropping off in 2008

But I wouldn't mind the occasional single.

ついに１週間ほど入院して手術することになりましたｗ
ガンとかじゃないから無事に戻ってこれるはず…
良い声が出せるようになる…はず…
ていうか逆に小宮真央じゃない別人の声になってしまう可能性もｗ
いやー初入院なんで怖いですが頑張ってきます。

Looks like I have more translations to do. I haven't even finished the original yet. But basically, she's recovering, nothing serious discovered while she was at the hospital. And she's returning to singing, even participating in Summer Comiket.

But seeing the new message you posted by her, she is about to undergo surgery and the results should turn out fine. Nothing too serious like cancer, she states. She jokes about how she might sound like a total different person after the surgery (which I hope does not happen).
