Default Power went out, help with desktop :(

Hey guys/gals, I broke my power button on my desktop (its smashed in, button is just loose) but yea, power went out, and now I can't turn it back on.

is there a way to turn it on without the power button?

I like my macbook, but have everything good on my desktop.

Without ripping open the computer casing, I am going to have to say no, you can't turn the computer back on.

Gotta get that button unstuck.

I agree.

Try taking apart the case to get it unstuck.

Typically, buttons only exist to provide a medium between you and a pressure plate.

If the button is misaligned with its plate, you either need to re-align it or find another way to get that pressure plate pressed. Both will require you to open up your case. Some cases can open from the front, but most of them will be a pain in the ass to get to the front.

Mines a custom case, with the see-trough glass on the side, the button isn't stuck, it's just loose, like its just there, nothing behind it, last time I pressed it, it worked, I can see if I can take it apart easily.

Woot, k so yea, the entire front just pops off like nothing, I have one of those cases with the door in the front, but I fixed everything, the plate was pushed out so just had to pop it back in, thanks guys.

Seriously, give it a good smack. That might unstick the button.

power went out here too, and I have troubles with mine too, when turning the comp on by pushing the power button in, it gets stuck on the casing and thus causes it to turn on and shut down right away.

Open the case, find the wiring that goes from the button to the mobo, take a small tipped screwdriver then create a "bridge" between the two little spokes that the power button is connected to. That's what turns the computer on. God I love knowing shtuff
