Default Laptop Trouble HELP ME

Ok, my downstairs computer has Mozilla Firefox. When I get this desktop, (not a laptop), the guy says, " This desktop will not run with foxfire." It made me so angry. I asked him what it would do if I did install it and he said, " If you want to ruin you laptop, install it." I need help. What could happen if I install it and it's not compatible.

Oh and by the way my laptop is:

Dell Inspirion 1300 Desktop
34 Gigabytes
256RAM
Wireless Belking G router
Verizon Broadband
I dont know the Ghz, so IDK

HELP ME

Firefox might consume too much RAM for the computer to rightly handle. I don't know.

Also, if you're running like Windows 98, then Firefox won't work. Please tell me you are not running Windows 98.

I am not running Windows 98. I am running Windows XP home edition. I think that that guy was lying.

PS. I am getting more RAM when I get the money. A 256 enhancement thing.
PS. My other computer has less disk space, and it runs firefox just fine

disk space doesn't matter. Uninstall and reinstall.

He's just a hater of Firefox. He didn't even know what it was really called XD. Some people just refuse to use anything other than IE, which is sad, really. Firefox really is a better browser. We'll see the comparison when IE7 comes along, though, I suppose. Maybe things will change.

Don't use Dell.
Dell is basically THEIR computer at YOUR house.
And this thread proves it by the guy (who is from Dell?) telling you to use IE instead of Firefox.

Lol it is not really "Dell" internet, IE is owned by microsoft, and im sure at some point Microsoft Pays dell to sell IE (its all bottom line, otherwise computers would come Pre-installed with firefox).

Obviously Firefox is the more dominate browser, but the company does not have enough money to sway manufacturers to put them on the computer by default.

I was just wondering what would happen if I installed firefox. They guy who sold me it, from best buy, said that it was not compatible with firefox. But it is running just fine, seeing that I am using it right now. Could there be long term effects?

He's so full of shit it's not even funny. There's no way a computer with the architecture to run a program can be incompatible with it.

Also, buying from Dell is generally a bad idea. Get a Thinkpad.

Foxfire works great on my computer, and I'm glad to hear Foxfire is working fine on yours.

That guy at Best Buy should of been fired on the spot, it isn't even funny. Hell, I'd take his job =O

It's obvious Microsoft payed Dell to shun off anything besides IE. There's nothing wrong with FF on your comp, he was probably instructed to tell you that.
