Default The Vault

The Vault

Prologue

The smell of the sea blew past the Horus. Horus' wings fell and rose freely among the distant beauty of the far off shore. Horus sounded a horn, and it blew it's sound for miles off the shore.
A beautiful blue angel with 3 heads flew from the sea. Not from inside it however, but near the horizon. This creature was considered an abomination by the people because of the vault that it tampered with, ultimately transforming itself into a strange new thing. They called Mehet, a borrowed word that meant north. His color was sheen as the sparkling blue ocean in the north, and the name stuck. In fact, he was no angel before his transformation, but the encounter with the unpredictability of the vault took its toll and he turned into a servant Netjer, the god of gods.
“Horus! For why in Netjer’s world have you sounded your horn!”, Mehet shouted.
Golden light pierced the thick mist of the ocean spray that shone from Horus’s red eyes. All of the angels were servants of Netjer, but they had never seen him. The 8 angels of Netjer only heard his echoing voice in their hearts and serve him as well as possible.
Another angel approached from the west. A glorious sight indeed, her wings spanned 15 feet in all. Her lift carried her all the way to Horus, the angel of the moon disk.
“Netjer has told me the humans are not sacrificing to the gods”, she repeated.
“He has told me the human race is to be destroyed, and the goddess Nefer shall complete the annihlation.”
He slowly moved his horn towards his belt. He stared her in the eyes for about 10 seconds.
“She has begun already, she carries a great sword and she is as swift as a river”, she added.

Neb sat in his house, and heard a knocking on his door. He sighned heavily, and went to the door. Nefer stood there, holding a sword. She pointed it at his neck. Neb began to run to the back of the house screaming, “Nefer has arrived!”,
His parents began to gather offerings, but the offerings did not appease her. She quickly lunged the sword into neb’s mother’s heart. She followed suit with neb’s father and they both fell flat on the floor.
Neb had made his way all out the back of the house. Nefer did not chase him, she put her sword in her sheath and left the house as quick as the slash of a sword. Neb grabbed his dog Iew.
“We have to go now, I heard their screams”, he said to Iew. Iew was a small brown dog, a happy dog indeed. He stood probably no more than 2 ft tall, and weighed only about 60 pounds. He was quite reluctant to leave the yard, but he escaped before it costed him his life.
“What has angered them?”, he said to Iew.
A winged angel, Ra, dressed in red, and swift flew into the house, breaking the windows. He was not harmed, not even scratched. He approached Nefer and addressed her thus.
“You must stop now!”, Ra shouted at the top of his lungs.
Nefer hissed. The snake goddess was not pleased by this interuption. Netjer himself addressed her to continue. Ra went against Netjer’s words, and attempted to stop her. He pulled out a bow and aimed it at her skull.
“If you don’t stop, I will kill you”, he said in protection of the entire human race.
“You’ll never finish, their numbers are too great”, he added. The police pulled in the driveway. They quickly broke into the door.
“Nefer and Ra is here”, the police told his partner.
“Fire at will”, he said. The blood on her sword indicated that she was the killer. The police shot Nefer and Ra. They both became wounded. Nefer began to scream violently and Ra fired two arrows at the skull of the police. The police both remained alive, but they both went into shock as they began to bleed profusely from their skulls. They began twitching and trembling, and eventually they passed out.
Nefer picked up her sword and swung it at now vulnerable Ra. She sliced his arm and his silk clothing began to stain with blood. He flapped his wings, motioning back towards the window he entered, but surprisingly, he lunged forward with a sword in his hand. Nefer grabbed the sword with her hands, and the force sliced her hand in half. She screamed in agony. Then, as he pulled his sword back for another blow, Netjer incinerated him, remaining unseen. Ra however did not die. He blackened body remained paralyze. Nefer ignored him and continued on with her one able hand over Neb.

Chapter 1

Nefer

To this day, no one knows who created the vault, and no one knows where it came from. It was found on the shore of the Sobek river. It’s contents have been the source of myths, legends and fables worldwide. What the vault does no knows. Many speculate it’s origin as old as time, created by chance during the creation of the universe. Some speculate a superior race that had mixed with the inferior people of Tibet through means of Buddhism created it. The vault was made entirely of gold. Very few people ever learned what the vault held. It was made entirely of gold, something only the wealthiest civilizations would be able to fashion. It was a very simple design. There was the bottom which was shaped like a coffin, however slightly differing, and the top that fit neatly over the bottom.
Meanwhile, Neb made his way over to his friend’s house Eriko. He knocked impatiently at the door, just waiting for about 15 seconds before Eriko answered.
“Nefer is here!”, he told Eriko.
“Who is Nefer?”, Eriko replied.
“Nefer is the mad snake-obsessed woman”, Neb informed mistakenly, unknowing that the mad woman she disguised herself as was only a ploy to infiltrate the human race and ultimately destroy it in a timely matter.
“She is fast as hell! I ran as soon as I saw her”, he continued.
“And…?”, Eriko said distantly.
“She has a sword! I heard my parents scream, but I was too afraid to return!”, he said.
“Well, call the cops!”, Eriko insisted.
Neb quickly ran towards the phone, knowing exactly where it was, as the last time he was here he used it to phone his mother.
He then exchanged some words with the police and hung up. In about 5 minutes the police arrived.
Screams were heard all throughout the neighborhood, for the swiftness of the snake goddess was great and she quickly made due with 20 houses full of people before the police arrived. He looked out the window. She had quickly amassed an army of 20 duplicates of herself. Each copy went into a house. They made their way towards Eriko’s house.
“Grab your dad’s shotgun RIGHT NOW!” he shouted loudly.
They both ran towards Eriko’s dad’s room. They found his shotgun in the closet. They both stopped to see Ra barely able to fly away from the scene. He was far too distant for the police to shoot him and they left him alone. Soon the swat team arrived and they rushed the scene, knowing that a once-believed-to-be mad woman had begun her killing spree. They all froze at the sight of the duplicates.
“Uuh, hold it right there woman!”, one swat team man shouted.
She hissed at him and continued.
“If you don’t stop moving I’ll shoot”, he continued.
The duplicate continued and before he could she, she duplicated into another Nefer copy. And again, until there were 20 more. They openly fired at all the copies, screams filled the air. The blood itself turned into many snakes, cobras, black mambas, and rattle snakes. They couldn’t hold the snakes off, and many of them were bit. In minutes into their fight, the Nefer duplicates murdered every swat team as their numbers reached the thousands. Their speeds to uncountable speeds. Simply appearing in one area then reappearing in another hundreds if not thousands of miles away. First they knocked the police men down and slit their throats. Blood filled the streets. A white magic sorceress entered Eriko’s house. She grabbed Eriko and Nefer, but left their parents to die. They disappeared in an instant.
They reappeared in an underground home. It was furnished with everything from beds to a cooking stove.
“We cannot let you or your friend die!” the sorceress insisted.
“At their speed, they will be here in about 10 minutes.” She continued”
“I have set up binding rocks at the entrance, so even with their great speed they will remain frozen”, she further added.
“It should only take them an hour to duplicate into billions and destroy every human on the planet - the prophecy is coming true, but we have to stop them!”, she screamed.
“We must find the fault, then you can transform into a god and destroy Nefer and her army!”
“What is the vault?”, Neb asked.
“The vault is a source of great power, capable of transforming whoever touches the contents and miracles great and small”, she spoke clearly and surely.
“Where can we find it?”, he said.
“It is in Tibet”, she continued, then added "We are leaving tonight, but first we must prepare you for your transformation."

-so far thats all
This is based on an egyptian story where a goddess destroys the human race. I'm recreating that story in modern times.
Critique/corrections are welcome. So is art based off this story (3 headed angels? sounds fun to draw ), you don't need to ask.
Please be specific for errors. Please do not steal. This is just a rough draft with some minor editing! Most of the names are in an ancient egyptian language.
