FFR Label Idea
This thread is very much a work in progress. Everything seen here is subject to change! Please feel free to suggest new ideas or improve older ones! CBR got me thinking, and I have had this idea before, that FFR become a music label. Not in the sense of a for-money distributor, but to simply get peoples music out into the world. An example of this stance is the Label Cut, as seen on Discogs and Bandcamp, which distributes music for pay-what-you-want. This is a good idea, and will not put us in any legal trouble. (Simply because we would not be charging for any, or the majority, of the music we are distributing.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Artist Releases Submission Requirements, Limitations, Agreement. Compilations Submission Requirements, Limitations, Agreement, Queue, The Albums. Rough Ideas: -------------------------------------------- Submission Requirements & Method - Artist must be a member of the FFR community.¹ - Be aware of Genre limitations. (Drone & Ambient, or any excessively long and uneventful, will be harshly judged.) - You want to advertise yourself, so give us your highest quality tracks and make people want more! (This project is a publicity project, not a way to make money.) - Any song that is submitted has full rights to be used within FFRs games, under the same "licence" as has always been used. ¹: At least 100 posts. (Excluding posts made in: Brag Board, "Game", and TGB) ~This section needs expansion. -------------------------------------------- Track Queue & Album Types - An artist is allowed only one track per two releases. - One artist may have a maximum of 3 submissions in the queue at any given time.¹ - Some compilation albums will be of a specific genre or type. Be aware of this when you are thinking of submitting 3 songs that sound very similar. ¹: 3 Tracks will last the artist over 6 releases. (Their Tracks will appear on the: 1st, 3rd, 5th | or | 2nd, 4th, 6th releases.) -------------------------------------------- Album Setup - Each album would be a small compilation of music that is featured on FFR. Any artist wishing to submit a track, must be a member of the FFR community.¹ - Any one artist may only have one song appearing on each album.² - No profits will be made by the distributor, FFR. - Releases would appear on a Bandcamp page, listed as 'Pay-what-you-want'. All funds raised through this method will be pooled into an account, and paid out to the artists. - All songs appearing on the albums will be available in all formats available at Bandcamp.³ ¹: More information on the specifics of this later. ²: To maintain a fair distribution level. The majority of these people will probably have these songs released on their own albums anyways, we are simply advertising for them. ³: If all of the free tokens on Bandcamp are used up do not worry, the album will also be available in V0 format through Mediafire. Thus ensuring that no buyer is required to purchase the albums if they do not want to pay. -------------------------------------------- Artist Payment Setup - Each artist will receive an even cut of however much each album makes.¹ - Payments to artists will be made through paypal. ¹: This can be ensured, since each artist is only allowed one submission per album. -------------------------------------------- Label Name (Ideas please!) Release channel for compilations. - [FFRCL] :: Flash Flash Revolution Community Label - [FFRC] :: Flash Flash Revolution Compilation Release channel for artist releases. - [FFRL] :: Flash Flash Revolution Label - [FFR] :: FFRecords - Other: [FFRCD], [FFREP], ... please keep ideas flowing. -------------------------------------------- Current Volunteer Possibility List: (Subject to serious changes. There are NO guarantees that you will get to keep the position I place you in!) Zageron - Project Manager Coolboyrulez0 - Compilations Submission Manager

Re: FFR Label Idea
As discussed already, I'm okay with this.
If there are no objections I will still be the individual who organizes, assembles, tags and uploads the tracks to bandcamp or ffr itself. btw rule one is a bit silly, we would love to encourage new artists not just people who have music in-game. As long as the individual is an established musician jungle gym poster he/she should have all rights to appear on the compilations. |

Re: FFR Label Idea
It will never go anywhere unless it's a public project.

Re: FFR Label Idea
If FFR becomes a label itself, would FFR-ians (such as myself) be able to release their own albums under the label? Or is it strictly for songs in-game/requested?

Re: FFR Label Idea
This is up in the air at the moment. At this moment in time, you would not be able to charge for it if you released under us. (Only the Pay-as-you-like)

Re: FFR Label Idea
That's perfectly fine. I never charge for any of my music anyway, and I think it would actually be a better idea to use the FFR Label instead of the shitty one I tried to make myself. XD

Re: FFR Label Idea
I remind you all, please look at the rough ideas I have posted above regarding the 'hows' and 'whats' of this label. What should the submission criteria be, what kind of music do we want to allow, who should be allowed to submit, etc... The more suggestions and ideas I get, the happier YOU will be when your song goes into an album.

Re: FFR Label Idea
Interesting. I would hope that all artists doing this would also give permission for it to be used in FFR the game, too?
Sounds promising...
