I need a new pair of headphones...

My headphones broke in my backpack today at school.... (They were kinda crappy.. can you tell?) so I decided that I'm gonna get a new pair of them that is actually higher quality.

So far, I'm only interested in headphones that you can replace the cord (like use a 2-sided male 3.5mm cord or something similar...

I've looked at a few Sennheisers so far, and they look pretty good, but I want to keep it under 100, hopefully more in the 50 dollar range...

Any suggestions?

P.S. I'd HIGHLY prefer circumaural headphones to supra-aural headphones, but I absolutely CANNOT use canal or earbud headphones. (I mean this literally...)

EDIT: Sorry if I can't seem to keep on a point for longer than about 3 sentences... It's kinda late here, and I can't think straight because of school and everything >.>

Sennheisers are excellent, just don't get teh $20-30 one. Skullcandy headphones are nice too. One thing about the Sennheisers- a lot of them have way too long cords, so make sure you look at that before you buy.

So it sounds like a sennheiser or a skullcandy would be the best choice for a set that costs ~100 or less...

Can anyone here confirm that senheisers have detachable headphone cords? That's one feature that drew me to it.

Audiophiles hate Skullcandies. Only buy Skullcandies if looking cool and trendy is worth less fidelity to the dollar.

Sennheiser is wonderful.

I'm not sure why you "cannot" use earphones and why you "mean this literally," other than possible lies of which you've convinced yourself to be true. (You use Q-tips, right?) Other than the occasional falling out of my ears and the lesser aural experience, I class earphones higher than headphones because people outside recording studios look less retarded with earphones, and headphones tons are infinitely easier to carry. I assure you that my earphones will never break in my pocket, my backpack, etc.

If you're going to be using them in school then you're better off with earphones. Earphones don't make you look less cool (headphones are really dorky), and Sennheiser makes earphones so you're assured quality sound, too. And the visual differences between Sennheiser and Skullcandy earphones are so marginal as to null any justification for buying Skullcandy earphones.

Until you make a valid point for buying headphones exclusively (e.g. you rarely use them in school compared to home), I contend that you are making a mistake. In such a case I would suggest buying both headphones and earphones, and adjust prices depending according to where you need them most. Really. Headphones are a hassle to lug around, especially those circumaural things. Haven't you realized this through experience yet?

Well those are high-end recording studio headphones, what do you expect? Great sound quality out of those though, I have a few pairs.

Sennheiser HD 212Pro

I got'em at guitarcenter for like, $60 or $70

They fit nicely around the ears, good bass, good noise cancellation and just a really crisp sound. I dont ever produce music now without these things on.

i used to have sennheiser headphones in my pro cs days. you hear every cricket those speakers can dish out. a little expensive but its not something you'll use just to listen to music.
