One handed endurance/speed
ok ive been playing for a while now, and i got pretty good...for me. I can pass every song on ffr, and even score well on a a bunch of the harder ones. Ex. i can do sushi bars with like 8 or so misses.
Heres my problem: i cant get my hand to move fast enough to do some songs. I can read the notes, but i cant get my hand to match up with my brain. The Damage trance mix on stepmania is about the limit of my hand speed, so anything faster than that i lag behind the music and fail. I can barely barely do quasar, but not consistantly, and when i do, my hand feels like its going to fall off. This brings me to problem 2: endurance. I cant get through the longer songs, no matter how easy they are (within reason). i can do short bursts of fast stuf, but i can never do the long fast runs like in flight of the bumblebee, etc Cliff notes: Any experienced one handers, or whatever, that can give me advice on how to up my finger speed and endurance? For example, that guy that was ripping up lawn wake 4 with one hand (kilga~?). that speed and endurance is amazing with one hand. |

My advice: Use 2 hands.

DDR on high speeds and for long periods of time is the finger/forearm equivilent to sprinting. So of course you will get fatigued after playing such songs. Only thing you can do is PUSH AND PUSH AND PUSH. Keep going until you can't even move your fingers, then do it again as soon as possible. Keep up with that, and your speed and endurance will progress as quickly as your muscles can grow.
Nothing you can do but be patient. I laugh at the people who switch to a two handed style instead of letting their forearms grow a bit. |

Most one handers can't FC alot of the songs on FFR. Most people switched to 2 hands(I did) because they wanted to attempt to get highscores. Plus two handed playing is a little less loud with the clicking. When I played one handed, I got in trouble constinently because of excessive noise lol.
XD

Just play a lot of SM. Turn judge to 5 or 6. Return to 4 after some time. Play streamy songs and you'll get enough endurance and accuracy.

Practice.
And then practice some more. I've been keyboarding since August of '02. That's why I am where I'm at today.

I'm one handed as well. I overcame fatigue in weight training at school. After I was done working out I would do finger curls and wrist curls... Worked like a charm!

When I play with one hand, I play with 3 finger / 2 finger combo. My ring finger does not have enough stamina to last too long so i shift and use only my middle and index. I get cramps man
