need help with buying a new pc
I registered for the OT but alas...my computer has been dead for months and won't even boot up anymore.
I have a budget of $500-$600 CAD. Don't need peripherals, just a tower. Not looking for anything fancy, literally need it to play manias lmao What should I get?? |

What was your old PC? Are you able to salvage parts? Like a video card or power supply or drives or case? Or do you want all new?

I got mine from Xidax.com. There are several options that are all able to be customized.

Re: need help with buying a new pc
if you're cool with building a pc yourself, this list will run you at $620. (ryzen 5 3600 integrated graphics are pretty decent, or you can upgrade to a dedicated GPU in the future)

OP's $600 CAD is ~$450 US. You can change countries to Canada on pcpartpicker too. Last edited by trumaestro; 06-22-2020 at 04:56 PM.. |

Office estate sales. A lot of businesses are going under right now unfortunately and are probably liquidating assets at super discount. Check craigslist, local for sale posts on facebook, etc;

Re: need help with buying a new pc
I can tell you that when I used my old computer which had an i3 6100 3.70 GHz processor, a single fan RX 560, a 238GB SSD, and 16 GB ram and a H110M-A/M.2 (LGA1151) motherboard, Windows 10, it ran Etterna and FFR perfectly, but Osu had slight fps drop if I didn't tone down the graphics.
Just keep in mind that because LGA1151 motherboards aren't made anymore iirc, you won't be able to upgrade to any new fancy cpu without buying a newer motherboard. Not sure how much the parts go for these days, but you could probably half the ram if unaffordable as is, or get a cheaper SSD.

Re: need help with buying a new pc
For his budget, this is probably the best bet. Get a semi-decent office pc and then just slap a gtx 1650 into it and call it a day. I'm not a huge fan of the 1650 from a price to performance standpoint, but it doesn't require any extra power cables or anything like that, so it's perfect for this sort of scenario. Added bonus for it being able to play other games when necessary.
