Default Another PS2 problem

Since Mwerp posted his I may as well too...okay well first of all the receiver I use to connect my systems/dvd player to the TV is messed up and blanks out on occasion, but comes back in a minute or two (or when I shake it, its really weird). One night I was playing a game (FFX I believe) and the screen blanked out for a sec, and when it came back I got shocked pretty badly by some static...I think...emiting from the controller right into my hands. The next day I realized that something really messed up was happening: the controls in GTA3 and Vice City were messed up: up and down were reversed and left and right strafed in the opposite direction. The weirdest part was the vehicles moved fine. In FFX it was difficult to move through some menus and the shoulder buttons failed to work on some screens. I have yet to try other games but I need your guys opinions: what's going on? I think the static screwed up the axis orientation in the PS2 so it made some things harder to navigate...and it's not the controller because I have tried at least 3 different kinds. I think I should send it in for repairs but what do you guys think?

Wierd! That's...wierd, seriously. What probably happened was what you think, the static shock probably killed some memory chips in the controller and/or game. It's probably not serious, but if the problem doesn't go away, I don't think there's anything you can do...bring it in to the tekkies to check it out, but if it's shot they'll probably tell you to get a new one.

My brother broke our gamecube.

Twice.

The first time, he pushed the reset button in so it got stuck in, and it affected the 1st two controller sockets, so you could only play the games that let you play with your controller in any socket. (we got it fixed after that)

The second time he broke it, he pushed in the open button, and ya know how if you open it up it will say, "Please close disk cover"? Well it's stuck open, but we can still play, but we just have to set the game's case on top and it holds it shut so you can play. (it's still broke from that too)

Also, 2 of out normal controllers won't work, well, they work but if you hold forward it only counts as barely holding it forward, like if you barely tilted it.
And both control pads can't use the z button, and 1 has part of the rubber control stick bit off. (my brother)

And yet we still manage to play it every day.

Meh, Sony's warranties suck. They only give you like 90 days. Just get a new one. Unless the controller was new.

I tried at least 3 controllers and they all had the exact same faults...I'm almost positive it's the PS2 itself.

check all the wires for cuts and kinks. also make sure coinnections are tight and secure. check the port for the controller and see if anything is in it it could be y the controllers all mess up.
check the game disc for scratches and the dvd drive for dust and alighnment. try useing a backed up file on a memory card (yes your supposed to save backups in case things happen like this)
if all else fails open the ps2 up and take a hammer to it then buy a new one and summon demons to attack sony.
