3.9 or 4.0, or other?

I am about to re-download SM and I am wondering which mode I should get? I will be playing it a lot and I want something that can play all my sims. I also don't want to have to use rocket science to use it. I liked 3.9 but it was kinda weird. Which mode I should get? :???:

I believe 4.0 is still in Beta, so I would say 3.9. I don't have any experience with any other versions, but I'm perfectly happy with 3.9.
