On the nine inch nails website there are three or four songs which they give out to people to remix on garagebandfor free. I think that these songs might be legal to put onto FFR, in some way or another (but maybe not, because ffr might count as "money making" purposes). Anyways, it might be worth looking into.

You must get permission from them and then send that to Tass... then it just MIGHT be possible that we can have the songs...

Oh my lord, what I would do to get NiN onto this site.
Just remember that those songs are for remixing, not for using on a large scale site for free...

(Not that Trent really cares who steals his music, as EVERYONE pirated Year Zero, anyway..)

I may look into trying to get permission from them.

How about someone remixes 'em and then gives us permission to step it?

What songs are they? If they're some of the more famous ones, namely singles, then you'll probably need to go and ask Reznor yourself.

Don't worry, he's probably a nice guy. Hopefully we won't have any trouble.

the weird al thing had nothing to do with him. don't go and bash artists when you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Reznor is a nice guy. His record label is what could cause a problem.

The garageband mixes on the site consist of most everything on Year Zero, but naturally "Survivalism" would PROBABLY be the one that we could get our hands on. Maybe Capital G, but that doesn't belong on FFR. =X

I'd love to get something off of The Fragile, though..

yeah, maybe remixing one of them would make it legal. Someone should download and post the copywright rules. I would do it, but im on someone elses computer.

Remixing WOULD make it legal.. But it just wouldn't be the same xD

You could remix it only slightly (like, repeat one section or make it 1 BPM faster). This would definately be bending the rules, but you might be able to get away with it.

I think a remix would be sweet...

Also, none of this slight change stuff. It needs to be sufficiently different in order for it to be legal (I don't know the real rules though).

I should head over to EchoingtheSound and ask for a remixer's permission. I remember hearing a couple good ones when YZ was released... But a song has to be upbeat to work for FFR.

You wouldn't be able to rip me away from my computer if this were possible.

I could always remix some songs as I definitely have the proper equipment, but I'm busy with school right now.
