Socialism is right around the block from communism. It has been proven time an again, that when a government gets to big into the economy, there are always problems.

China
Russia
India
Iraq
Afganistan

Socialism only results in communism simply because someone always wants more power. The idea of socialism is theoretically a very good idea.

Yeah, Socialism is the best form of government, in theory, but it's never been successfully executed. It probably never will be, either.

I agree. The idea of socialism is great. But it just can't work, because people don't work that way.
It could work with robots, but not with real people.

It's fairly incorrect to say socialism works in theory, because it just doesn't. It assumes people will not sin, will not want, will not have a problem being ordered around. The theory is one based on a false reality that cannot exist while there are independent nations, or while people want there to be. Socialism promotes the utopian society, which cannot be on Earth. If Earth is heaven, heaven is not.
Besides, in order to actually be able to begin practicing socialist doctrines, the socialists must first take over the control of the country in question and begin giving orders. All people must bow before the (temporarily) totalitarian regime. For any country to become socialist, it must first be communist. Because communism is so ill-received, the communist regime must stay in power long enough to eliminate all threats the the governed society. What you have is an indefinite stay of communism in the goal of attaining socialism. It's inherently unreasonable and will not work. End of story.
The same situation in the above paragraph applies equally well to anarchy. One must rally people together in a form of military so as not to be instantly annexed by a country that actually has a government. The moment you have that military and leaders taking charge of it, you have a basic governing body, and you are no longer anarchist. So that school of thought is entirely self-contradictory.

That's why it works only "in theory."
Because in theory, you say there could be a group of people who "will not sin, will not want, will not have a problem being ordered around."
In theory, if you got those kind of people, then it would work.
But it doesn't work, because you can't get those people.
And you're right, you couldn't change a country into socialism, either, without problems. Which is why it doesn't work, in the end.
But maybe I'm entirely wrong. In fact, that's very possible. But I hope not.

socialism can never work...NEVER....to say that if you work really really hard and will get nothing for it is just stupid...its like Office Space...why work hard if there is no reward...no incentive...i dont know why you guys feel socialism is good...basically it says everyone is equal in every way...that measn the hard work you do in school doesnt mean shit...you get paid for being a scientist the same the bum gets paid for labor...socialism is more than just social standing its alos about the economy, and that just doesnt fly with me...i should get rewarded for working hard...dont you think thats fair

It can't work, I agree. It won't work either. But I still think it is a good idea. Nobody has a hard time, everyone is equal. You work, you get paid.
Of course that is my opinion, but still....
It can not work. It just can't.

Socialism is the ultimate uniform society. It's spost to be set up so everyone works for the same pay, gets the same things(I.E. free med care, stuff like that). But, it never works because there will always be people trying to overthrow the existing one in hopes for a better running more well oiled society. It of course eventualy breaks down to communism, and often dictatorships.

The only possible way for some sort of worldwide uniform socialism to work is to first unite the world under a single banner and to second, eliminate currency.
Do you see how this is unlikely? And even if it DOES happen someday, it won't be for a very long time.
