Ok on some of them, but you forgot AC/DC, the godfathers of rock, and pretty much all of Vx's additions (except for Iggy Pop). You idiot.
Also, The beatles arn't rock, and blink 182, green day, the police, the cars, U2, pink floyd, definitely no. They arn't influential in any way, just bestselling. The backstreet boys are bestselling and their music is the **** of this earth.

oh and you have to include iron maiden...so crazy...theyre music is great, especially the guitars, but what puts them over the top is their incredibley poetic, epic songs...it just sets them apart from the bland, tasteless rock we so often see today

Best song evah: Alcohal by BNL
"Alcohal my permanent accessory...
Alcohal my partytime neccessity...
Alcohal alternative to feeling like yourself
Oh alcohal, I still drink to your health
I....loooove you more...
Than I did the week before...
And would you please ignore...
When you found me on the floor...
I thought that alcohal was just for those with nothing else to do
I thought that drinking just to get drunk was a waste of precious booze
But now I know that there's a time and there's a place where I can choose
To walk the fine line between self control, and self abuse...
chug chug chug chug chug chug chug chug....

Angus Young is one of the most identifiable musicians in all of rock for more than just the goofy clothes. Songs like "Thunderstruck" don't come around very often.
As for groups, then yeah, Metallica comes to mind, although they didn't really do anything that any other band at the time wasn't aiming for. They were just good at it. I'd say Van Halen set more of a milestone than did Metallica.
If you're talking about heavy rock, then there isn't a single band more influential than Black Sabbath, period. A lot of influential bands in hard rock credit them as their inspiration to get started.

yeah but it's not the best song or whatever, it's the most influentialVan Halen changed the face of hard rock with one song: Eruption. You can't deny it.
Besides, that wasn't my point. I was giving an example.

you all forgot RUSH for metal, they all thought they was the devil back then. and STYX. Berlin's another good one, Red Hot Chili Peppers had to contribute something. Aerosmith introduced that crazy fusion of rap and rock. (Walk This Way) Steve Miller Band for new age. Twisted Sister, and cross dressing.
ralphiej
January 22nd, 2004, 08:06 PM
you have to be kidding me! cross dressing and rock and roll have been together since the early seventies. ever heard of the new york dolls? T rex? david bowie??? twisted sister was just a pathetic attempt to bring that all back.
here are my pick for ten most influential artists:
(if you want to contend them im ready to argue)
1. the beatles
2. the rolling stones
3. the velvet underground
4. led zeppelin
5. the ramones
6. nirvana
7. bob dylan
8. elvis
9. chuck berry
10. robert johnson

Kiss are devil worshippers,
they need to die.K.I.S.S. is actually "corporate" rock in all it's glory. The members of that band got together and thought of all the things they always wanted in a rock show when they went to see them as kids. So they create some over-the-top name (Knights In Satan's Service, if somehow, someone here didn't know that already), did crazy face paint, and made lots of stuff blow up during their concerts. It's all a show, and they do that very well. None of them actually worship the devil, and all the stuff they say about the women they have sex with all the time is more or less an image thing.
If you want a devil worshiper, look no farther than Manson. THAT is a guy that needs to die, if any musicsian does.
