If you made a thread called "ATTENTION THIS THREAD CONTAINS GOATSE" it's legal.

I think that would still be considered illegal because you are not describing the type of material you may encounter at goatse.

Someone please arrest Snapps now. I was expecting to see a man pulling his asshole open. Instead I was redirected to the website at which I had currently be viewing. Not only did this disorient and thus cause me great distress, it was also a waste of valuable time of which I am sure all of us could agree we have little of.

Goatse is an Internet slang verb meaning to disguise a link which would disturb the person who would click it. If I made a link and identified it as google.com but instead linked to tubgirl, that could still be called goatse.

This is what the creator of the topic meant, not the literal meaning of goatse being a man pulling his anus open very widely.

ps I've goatse'd just about all of my IRL friends who I have on my buddy list. When they were underage. OOPS 20 YEARS IN JAIL NOW.

pps goatse doesn't really have a standard link up anymore I don't think. There's that one that opens a bunch of windows of it and moves them around in circles and tries to email things or something, but the standard goatsecx and goatcx are no longer goatse as of the last time I've checked.

Although I'm sure it goes against the terms of service that you agreed to when you uploaded the image in the first place. I wouldn't be surprised if they banned you from the service for abusing it.

No, but it's illegal to fool someone into viewing the site without the consent of the recipient (ie. hiding it in urls that have no obscene content). Like afrobean said, I'm sure it's not a good idea to have that there anyway.

Ever since the switch to vb, it seems that thread titles aren't connected to the original post. Basically, the title can be changed seperately without editting the post (and apparently only by mods).

You'll find that the mods tend to edit any topic title which has anything which may be questionable in it. Goatse is a little extreme, I'd say, because of it's esoteric nature (then again, people not knowing what it is may motivate them to google it before reading the thread haha), but I can totally understand editting things like "masturbation" out.
