I dont believe you are a real gamer. Come over here and get yoru sissy ass owned. You seem to me like a stupid little boy that comes here everyday right after his nap.
I've been gaming since I was 2, and was able to hold a fuckin Nintendo controller. Go back where you came from.

When you can talk to me about Kaboom!, Clash at Demonhead, Guardian Heroes, etc., then I'll call you a real gamer.
Sorry, but I'm only a fan of cvs 2. The Tekkens, especially Tag, are horribly balanced, mvc 2 is insanely unbalanced, sc is ok. You could have at least mentioned cooler fighting games like GGX2 or Samurai Showdown.

Clash a Demonhead was AWESOME. I don't think I've met another person that's ever played it.
As for fighting games, DOOD. Have you seen my avatar?
Guilty Gear X2 is the single best fighting game, ever made. Anything 3d sucks, I'm sorry. They all do. They all rely on cheap characters and massive reversals and stupid stuff like that. I just want to beat stuff up! I don't want to have any sort of game where a character can win in a SINGLE combo. It's just retarded like that.

I have Clash at Demonhead. :) I'm an old-school gamer and sadly all the new fighter games truly suck, with maybe the exception of Tekken Tag, SSBM and CvS. Personally I like SSFII:T the best (and SSFII:TR).
Worst fighting game ever: Art of Fighting. Damn that sucked.
Coolest fighting game ever: Samurai Shodown.
Most unique: Flying Dragon (for N64) and SSBM.

TRUE
If he didnt list GGX2 as one of his fighting games (RaverGames) then he is OBVIOUSLY a moron. I too am old school sometimes, I find myself playing alot, and I mean ALOT of Genesis and SNES fighters and RPGs.

Hell yeah. The 16-bit fighting era kicked ass. I collect those games even if they suck. I don't know what it is but even if the fighting game sucks, I can't help but want to pick it up if it's $3 or less. Street Fighter Alpha was what I would have to say the reason I bought a Playstation. After that when Sony pretty much fucked the world and basically forced develpers to program all 3-d games; fighting went to hell. Thinking of all those first- and second-generation PSX fighters makes me want to vommit. I liked the N64 fighters a lot better than those. Fighter's Destiny and Clayfighter 63 1/3 were pretty decent fighters. I'm pretty lucky where I'm at cause our arcade has SSIV and Primal Rage...Golden Showers!

While I generally prefer 2D Fighters (including the older ones), I have to say that I did like Rival Schools muchly, and the Street Fighter EX games (if you looked past the sucky new characters) was actually pretty good too on the playstation (as a game by itself, compared to the other street fighters it was totally different)
Of course, I have to admit, eye candy always impresses me if its used well alongside a decent game, and I love the character design and style in modern beat-em-ups such as the Guilty Gear series much more than the hundreds of mid-90s street fighter wannabes by companies that are mostly unheard of, which are all very bland in comparison.

ok, for one in GGX2 a single character can win in a single STRIKE. Now, imo, thats a hellofalotworse than a single combo, but still makes the game fun and balanced as as button combos for these insta-deaths (for the most part) are the same and they're extremely off to hit with against a skilled opponent.
I won't disagree with you that GGX2 is an ub3r fighting game, probably tied for the best with SF2, and CvS2, but some of the thigns you say don't make a whole lotta sense. also i think GGX2 isn't the typa game where you can just beat stuff up, as it has a lot of depth to it. So if you wanna be good, you gotta do a lot more than button mash. If i wanted to do that i'd play MvC2 =)

I tend to like those wannabe games though. The best one ever is Martial Masters. It sounds like the stupidest rip-off ever but it's better than most mainstream fighters. Lots and lots of depth, very comparable to Street Fighter III, but much better. Super moves can be used both offensively and defensively and can even be chained multiple times in the same combo. Very nicely done.

You've never played GG. IK is impossible win with unless your oponnent is a total and absolute moron. When you have 4+ seconds to block something and you dont, you shouldnt be playing fighting games.
Unless you're talking about the orginal GG, but that's a diffferent story.

The only instant kill that ever gets me isn't even an instant kill, but Mist Finer from a Gold Mode Johnny. >_<
To hit with an IK, you have to be EXTREMELY good, I should add. To kill an enemy in one combo with, say Maxi in SC2, takes no skill whatsoever. Once he starts, you're done.

Far too often in 3d fighting games, you are penalized for taking initiative, becasue the other person will just do a counter move (SC guard impacts, DoA reversals, etc etc). You can win a match by sitting and countering the whole time. That to me is extremely lame. I understand that GGX2 has a lot of depth to it, and that's why I like it. It's one of the rare games where a new person has no chance in hell against someone that knows what they are doing, unlike SvC2 where any random person can mash buttons on even a seasoned vet and still win.

I agree that SC2 has no skill to it. I played at a friends house once and in 10 minutes I could whop anyone with Cassandra. It took no skill on my part, and they had the game for more than a month.

He can't ban me because I haven't broken the rules. Its just you being anally retentitive. Just give up.
SC2 meh. I say its kinda more balanced then most games ive played either way. GG I just dont understand. Game is hot but I just forgot how to play it lol.

I played SC2 a couple of times in the arcade, and completed it both times too. With perfects on about 75% of the rounds.
I don't know whether the machine was set to 'incredibly-easy-for-idiots' mode, or whether the AI sucks in the game, but I don't really like games where I can just win on one credit with mostly perfects on the first time I play. It kinda loses the entire point of a challenge.

The AI sucks in so many fighters now, it's just boring. I always have to set it to the hardest difficulty. Even if I'm getting owned, at least it's a challenge and therefore, fun.

Yeah he deserves it for starting stuff with me for no reason.
Anyways on with the topic. This weekend John Choi was in NY. Man I played him only once in CvS2. His Guile is tooooooooo god like. I literally couldnt jump against him cause he would either Roll Cancel me or hit me with a combo that took 50%.

I started playing fighting games seriously with Tekken 3 (still my favorite). Now I play TTT, T4, VF4, and SC2.
TTT - In my opinion, one of the best fighters ever. Mishima style developed in Korea was very technically demanding, and even today people there are hitting impossible just frame combos (Kaz WS+2:EWGF launch) and generally just being incredible bastards.
T4 - One of the more innovative 3D fighters. Characters like Lee, Hwoarang and Law were given revamped movelists that were perfect, and enourmously well-recieved by the community. Were Jin taken out, balance would be very good (even low-tier characters only need a small boost). Walls are awesome. I play this one competitively way more than the others, and most of my practice time is devoted to anti-Jin (really, the presence of a broken character makes it all the more challenging if you don't choose that character).
VF4 - The most technical, high-level fighter I've ever seen. Perfect balance, good engine (being a Tekken native, some parts of the engine are hard to get used to), and highly realistic. Probably the most well-done fighting game on the market.
SC2 - SC2 will always be a different breed of fighter. Its balance is second only to VF4, for now: everyone has been playing the game for some time, and lately problems are starting to arise with lame gameplay (strong step, Xianghua needing 5 moves to compete).
