It's good. Go watch it.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=4454

Azuma Kazuma, an energetic and dense young man, was introduced to the art of bread making when he was six. He decides to take the path of bread-making and become a baker right after graduating from middle school. Through his travels, he encounters many rivals and found work at the branch store of the most famous bread maker brand, the Pantasia.

The title is kind of a pun in a sense. Pan is bread. They play jokes off of this often.

So basically there's a kid and he makes bread. What the descriptions don't seem to say is that he's trying to make the official bread of Japan. You know, there is English Bread, German Bread, and (the one you know of) French Bread. Japan doesn't have an official bread. That's what Kazuma's dream is: to make "Japan".

Anime-Empire has up to 30-something.

PS - Whenever the main character doesn't look like a girl, he looks like Reiji from Dragon Drive.

I've heard from another source that this does indeed work. If you follow the instructions in the show, you can make Japan 2.

Awesome.

Haha, it better work, or they'd have some angry fans with some kind of messed-up bread on their hands. XP

It's like the little Go lessons with Hikaru no Go... I guess they do this with a lot of "sports" anime. Fans want to join in on all the stuff the anime makes look awesome, and since it's actually possible, they do it. (Funny how anime can make hordes of people want to do something that would normally be considered mundane...)

Also, which one was Japan 2 again? >.> It's been a while.

Edit: Looked it up. Bah, it needs a rice cooker... too bad for me. u.u

BUMP FOR 45 BEING OUT.

I honestly learn more about my own country from a Japanese animated show than school has taught me in all my years.

Kinda sad.

Why are you afraid of awesome shows?

This show is spectacular. At least watch the first few episodes before deciding that it sucks. I think the first little introductory set is over at #3.

I wouldn't think that this show would suck. I would just think that
it's gotta be pretty retarded 'cuz it's about a guy aking bread. My choices
are AIR or a show about making bread. Hrmmm... tough choice.

Ohhay bump.

Yakitate ended. 69 episodes in. I'm surprised honestly. They could have taken that a lot further than they did, considering it's pretty much a generic shonen anime with the main theme being bread competitions.

68 was the best episode of the series by far. Lord of the Rings references omg everywhere. Makes me a bit sad that I never liked any of the movies or books. Eh.

So. I highly recommend this show to anyone as it is purely awesome. It was dreadful waiting for A-E to finish episodes (took over two months to get one episode released), but at about 60 or so, they sped up and made me happy.
