The reactions by gamers to this are very very split-up. One side thinks this will be the best or one of the best game-to-movie transitions, the other side says it will suck and was always doomed (lol) to suck.

Frankly, I think it will be great (or at least not suck) because:

(1) DO YOU SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING WITH HIS BFG?
(2) They got the DooM logo right.
(3) The monsters are not CGI. In fact, the guy making the monster costumes is the same guy that did the costume stuff for the Terminator movies.
(4) As you can see, they have flashlights on their guns.

Doom spells doom in the box-office

If that turns out to be an actually article title, I am going to strangle someone...but probably someone who is weaker than me and cant fight back...like a baby or a senior citizen.

Stlunatic, what I mean by this is that a CS simulation is already done for all the people who play CS non-stop all day every day. Movies about games with a storyline and a plot tend to be a ton better than 30-second movies about 10 people who want to kill each other.

How many game -> movie movies have there been? Can you list them all for me?

Thinking now, I can name... 3. Super Mario Brothers, Resident Evil, and Advent Children. Final Fantasy: Spirits Within was not based on any game. Advent Children hasn't come out yet, but people are still raving about how awesome it will be (FF7 fanboys, I'm sure. Even though I hate FF7, I'm still excited to see it). Resident Evil, I heard, was pretty good. Super Mario Brothers was an older movie than you are. Of course, my knowledge of movies far undermines my knowledge of games, but I digress.

Give it a chance. SEE the movie, THEN tell us it sucks.

I dont think this DOOM movie will be anything mindblowingly profound, but I do think it will be some nice mindless entertainment.
