I can't believe a thread for Champloo hasn't sprung up yet.

Mugen is a fierce animal-like warrior with a unique break-dance-inspired fighting style. Jin has a more traditional style but don’t think of this as a weakness because his skills are amazing. The two contrasting samurai warriors are far from friends, yet their separate paths seem to cross anyway. Mugen is wandering aimlessly through the city when he stumbles upon a teahouse where he meets Jin and Fuu (A ditzy waitress, but don't think she doesn't have anything hidden up her sleeves). Fuu convinces them both to come with her in search of a mysterious samurai that smells like sunflowers and their journey begins. This modernized hip-hop tale breaks the barriers of the common, historical, samurai anime.

Edited for retarded mistakes.

The show is amazing, regardless of what about 90% of this site will tell you. The action is awesome, the jokes are quite hysterical, and overall, it's a great series.

I just finished watching episode 23. That has to be the funniest episode yet.

Yes yes yes it's an uber bump, but tonight is Samurai Champloo's airing night. It's taking over the spot of FMA for the time being, and it's 45 minutes into the show and I must say this is hella good. 100 Dumplings anyone?

Edit: They changed Jin's name to Jean it sounded like.....but there were some people being loud because I have cousins over so maybe not. It just ended and I must say I have high hopes for this anime. This was a truly great first episode filled with action and some plot into it, but mostly action. No spoilers for you guys....and if there are then edit them out. Squeek that was a summary off of ANN.

Champloo was good, but this...this...thing that's on right now...it's awful. I think it's called Metropolis. I don't like it. At all.

SC has some of the greatest fighting scenes and musoc I've ever seen in an anime. Unfortunately I'm only up to episode 8 so I have a while's to go before I see the very end. But a Capoeira fighting Samurai? How does Spike keep getting this badass roles? I mean the fight scene in the teahouse with Jin and Mugen blew me away. But enough about that. :)

HOLY CRAP AWESOME. Just got blown away by the first ep.

Squeek, if you have the whole thing, I want it. Badly.

Hmm, I've had the whole series on my computer for a while.

I think I'm gonna finally get around to watching it.

I personally do not have the entire series. I frequently clean out old series to be replaced with new series due to spacial issues (who could've thought that 160 gigs was not enough?!).

Look around, I'm sure you'll find it.

Eh, I guess I'll give the series another chance.

edit: I have no idea what was wrong with me the day I first saw the first episode of Samurai Champloo...but I just finished watching it again and I must say, it was pretty kick ass.

Sadly, the rest of the series wanes after that first episode, but it's still very good in my opinion.

The teahouse fight was uncomparably the best I have ever seen in an anime. And I've seen a lot of anime.

Wha? The opening theme song kicks ass.

Sorry, but dont even consider it music. That has to be the worst rapping I have ever heard..no rhythm, no flow. And what is up with the random mashing on the piano torwards the end?

If you read the lyrics, thier very intelligent such as this piece:

"The elements compose a magnum opus,
My modus is operandi is amalgam."

Even though I have no idea what the hell that means (lol), I still think to rap that well is very good IMO.

Modus operandi*

magnum opus
n.

1. A great work, especially a literary or artistic masterpiece.
2. The greatest single work of an artist, writer, or composer.

mo·dus op·er·an·di (mō'dəs ŏp'ə-răn'dē, -dī') pronunciation
n., pl. mo·di operandi (mō'dē, -dī). (Abbr. MO)

1. A method of operating or functioning.
2. A person's manner of working.

a·mal·gam (ə-măl'gəm) pronunciation
n.

1. Any of various alloys of mercury with other metals, especially:
1. An alloy of mercury and silver used in dental fillings.
2. An alloy of mercury and tin used in silvering mirrors.
2. A combination of diverse elements; a mixture: an amalgam of strength, reputation, and commitment to ethical principles. See synonyms at mixture.

Translation:

The elements compose an incredible work. My way of life is of pure strength / the sword.

I believe one of the subbers have a mention of what this all means in their intro "translation". No idea which one.

It's a great opening theme, IMHO.

"My modus operandi is amalgam" = My way of doing things is a bunch of other ways mixed together.

I'm not saying that the lyrics are bad, it just does not flow at all.

Whatever, episode 7 (or was it 8?) was absolutely hilarious.

I call it "Hyperjazzitis," like when someone does a jazz tune so ridiculously complex and stylized that it sounds like random crap.

I call it two sperate songs in the same key with different bpm's playing at the same time.

EDIT: I just listened through the entire thing. I still think it is terrible, but not as terrible as before.

Well, I just finished watching the last three episodes, and I have to say, I was quite disappointed.

Syke. The ending was awesome. Mindblowing even. This actually went from being a series that I hated, to one of my favorite animes of all time. The entire series was entertaining, fun, and even hilarious at points with awesome action sequences. The music is also pretty good, save for the openning song (which I have to admit, becomes more bareable the more you listen to it). Really, I am trying to think of something that I didnt like in the series, but nothing comes to mind.

Overall, it was an awesome awesome series that should not be missed.

What kind of sword does Mugen use? I would dismiss it as a katana, but the hilt throws me off.

I`d guess some kind of Chinese made sword...or Okinawa-in made sword. Though I have no idea.

I LOVE Samurai Champloo(Jin is the r0xx0r!)! Lately I've been watching it on adult swim and I'm addicted! The song is okay, I only really like the chorus though, the songs I really like have to smoothly flow without any random tidbits(aka the piano).

Hey, Jewpinthething, I love you TMBG siggy! Rock on!

Dont get me wrong. I think the rest of the soundtrack to Samurai Champloo is awesome. Just not the theme song.

And yes, TMBG does rock...forever. Samurai Champloo is still one of my favorite animes at the moment.
