It's a common misnomer to say that ROM images are legal for 24 hours. That is a lie perpetrated by ROM distributing sites to make people think they aren't stealing anything. IF YOU DO NOT OWN THE CARTRIDGE, YOU CANNOT LEGALLY HAVE A ROM OF THE GAME. End of story.

With that said, I saw screw Square for not bringing it over in the first place. I have never felt morally wrong downloading a game that I'd never, ever get the chance to play any other way. For example, Seiken Densetsu 3 is perhaps one of THE greatest games ever made, but only Japan was treated to the gem.

Now, just as a question, are you an informed gamer and say 3 as in the NES game with Onion Knights are 3 as in the one that still believe that the SNES game in the US is the third game in the series? That's just a curiosity statement. I think FF6 was magnificent, but haven't really played 3 (sorry, but fan translations tend to not be that great.)

Either way, FF7 was trash. I do submit that YOU have a poor choice in RPGs. Seriosuly. You must not have played very many if you still think FF7 is "the greatest game ever made", or even one of.

The laws regarding such things are a mess, really. But you do not need to make the backup yourself, which is all a ROM image is.

I can't find a good translation of FF3j. I'm about to just give up on the English fanslated version and just get the Japanese rom. It's a good game but really annoying leveling up system.

FF7 is nowhere NEAR as good as FF4 or 6 or Tactics, except maybe graphics-wise.
