Missingno was that glitch, but it wasn't 99, it was 128(?) (of course the game couldn't handle numbers that high so it displayed counts over 99 as random characters). When you encounter Missingno it made you have 128 of whatever was in slot 5 (I think). If you aren't familiar with Missingno, you suck.

I loaned my friend Blue version so he could play with the level 100 everything pokemon I had on his Stadium...he went and caught missingno and now Stadium doesn't recognize the cartridge.

It was the first Game Boy game I ever owned. I whored that cheat so hard. I had a Mewtwo level 145 and other powerful ones at level 100. It doesn't do the cheat anymore though :(((

The only way to get it now days is by using a gameshark. Yay cheaties.

Mew cannot be gained on Red and Blue in a normal way. Nintendo was doing some kinda tour or something, but whatever it was, they were stationed at a nearby Mall, and if you gave them your cartridge of Red or Blue, they put Mew on your game. It's damn true. Saw it with my own eyes.

Check Gfaqs, someone found a legitimate way of getting him in-game last year. I saved the procedure but I don't know if I still have it.

Kids who used the rare candy trick were idiots. You dont get the experience thus you dont get strong attacks when you level up with rare candies. All they are good for is if you wanted to evolve a Pokemon. Plus, you cant level up any above 99, that means if you had a 145 whatever if it leveled up, it would only be 99.

Actually... if you use rare candy on a pokemon above level 100, it keeps leveling to 255 or something... theres a limit somewhere, i think its at that level... and I'm saying to use the rare candy on a level 145 pokemon... because they shouldnt be getting skills at that level anyways >.<

and if you kill something and gain any amount of experience, yes, you do get set down to level 100 or whatever it was... thats why you only use these uber pokemon in pvp battles

ACTUALLY, you could level it up to 255 but when you used it in battle it would "gain a level" and go to 100.

100 was the max.

Mew was gotten without Gameshark or the Nintendo input.

Rare Candy trick? PAH. Try the MASTER BALL x 128 TRICK.

I remember in the area, I think is by the water of the bottom island, where you could catch missingno, that you could catch, or turn missingno or something, into a totally random pokemon which could be mew if your extremely lucky.. I know, at least back then, that that was the only way you could get a mew without a gameshark or other cheating hardware.
