My neighbor built it for me.

Specs: AMD Athlon 64Bit 2800+ processor
512 DDR PC3200 Ram
80 GB HD
Win XP Pro
GeForce 5700+ Vid card
CD-RW+ DVD-ROM drive
Crappy keyboard, so bad I have to get a new one for SM >_>
Surround Sound w/ woofer (unexpected, he said he got "good speakers")
Optical Mouse
Widescreen 19 inch Monitor, non-flat screen though
The case is awesome, it has 2 temperature displays, has blue LED lights, and is see through on one side, I was expecting a normal case, it was a nice surprise along with the speakers.

Sumamry: I got a really cool new comp, so now I can play new games and my SM doesn't lag anymore, but now I suck at SM because of my keyboard, but I am getting a new one soon.

Will do. My friend is coming over tomorrow to take pics of it so he can show it to prospective clients of his (this was his 10th comp that he has built but first built for me), and I will be sure to get some and show you guys once he sends them to me.

Your specs are a tad bit better than mine... But what is a cool case without neons and colored fans, and the colored ribbon cables... You got any 'o that? HUHUHUHUH!?

Uhh...how much did you pay for that? Looks like an $800 computer to me...

I have nearly double of every spec and paid $1,300 for mine. Though, I have the Radeon X300 and dual monitors. The ram I've got is DDR2 at 1gb, and I started with 160gb SATA HDD, but I'm buying another 250 or 300 as this one is full.

Who cares about the casemod, zajac? Wasted money on useless things. Temp displays aren't useless, so props on that one. MY case has the coolest way of opening up, so I win there. It's also really pretty hearing it purr. 4 cooling fans and a super-elaborate heatsink help.

But anyway, the only really good thing about that is the 5.1 surround. By the way, it's called a subwoofer. I guarantee your friend didn't get you a woofer for your computer. Also, why not just get the old keyboard and put use it for this one if the new one sucks?

Squeek, your computer is the exception to the rule. You have a beastly ass computer for cheap (although your X300 could stand for an upgrade). How much did you pay for that, though? Depending on your mobo and perephirals (including how much your casemod was), you shouldn't have paid more than $800 for that, $900 at the most. Decent rig though, have fun with it.

Well yeah Squeek I meant subwoofer.

And I want to switch the keyboards but my parents and sister will get mad because they will have to get used to the new one as well (not only does it suck for SM, but the keys are different sizes and I kept making typos).

I'm currently building mine right now. Birthday is in a month, I'll get the last few parts then.

AMD Athlon XP 2500+, OC'ing to 3200+
Corsair 512MB PC-3200 RAM (gonna upgrade to a gig later)
120 gig HD from Samsung
ATI Radeon 9600 (won't do a lot of gaming outside of SM, so this is perfect, considering it was like $70)
Win XP Home w/ SP2

It's like $500, too =D

I don't know much about computer hardware, but I am fairly sure that OCing a 2500 to 3200 isn't a very good idea  . And he didn't come over today so no pics yet, but he said he will OC it and take pics (not OC it to that extreme though)

I have an NF7 motherboard from ABIT, and the Barton 2500+ is like, it's BEST FRIEND. There was one guy who took one past 4500+ speeds with water cooling and kept it there for over an hour until it burnt. Yes, 4500+. That's an AMD getting past 3 Ghz, people. OC'ing to 3200+ is routine on this. =D

Tnyhwk is right- the 2500 Barton is like, a godly-esque overclocking core. It's actually probably top of the line, even beating out the legendary P4 2.8 Northwood, which has been clocked up to of 4.6 Ghz 0.o

Just make sure you have super good cooling. No matter how good of an overclocker your mobo and CPU are, if you don't have buttloads of fans and heatsinks (or water cooling if you take the time and spend the money), you'll get a burnt out computer in a flash.

Also, I notice you didn't list your PSU. If you're planning to OC that to 3200, make sure you've got at least a 450 W power source, or you'll get lockups and crashes galore.

Well, I've got a 420W. Guess I need to upgrade.

that's ordinary spec now, but sufficient for playing R2 and SM.
congrats anyway, and get a new k/b as you say.

Tnyhwk, 420 W should be sufficient.

Yeah, it came with the case, though. I'll work with it for a while, if I start getting crashes, I'll buy a 500W.

Meh

Computers are computers.

That's quite a nice rig, drew. How much did it set you back?

x800? Meanie. I bet you don't even play that many games. D:

Although honestly, if you were spending $300, you should have gotten the 6800GT. 16 Pipes absolutely dominate the 12 Pipe X800 Pro, no matter how fast you clock it. Not that it's a bad card by any means, but considering the GT is just an underclocked version of the Ultra and that card is neck and next with the X800 XT...meh.

tnyhwk900

In order of best to worst:
X800 XT
6800 Ultra
6800GT
X800 Pro

The XT is a little better than the 6800 Ultra because though the Ultra runs Doom 3 better than any other card by a LONG shot (like 20 fps difference between it and the runner-up) the XT overall runs all other games better. You were right about the other two though, Anti.

Jimerax- normal for you, maybe. My old comp's specs, to show how much better this one is. Intel Celeron (ugh) 433 MHz, 256 RAM (upgraded from 128), 40 GB HD (upgraded from 6.4), crappy speakers, ok keyboard, crappy mouse, crappy monitor, boring case, made by Dell >_>. That's what happens when your parents buy a computer. And what really pissed me off about it was that when we bought it, the 933 MHz's were just coming out, and they got a crappy 433 celeron.
