View Full Version : Group drawing

this is spawned off of a thing me and my friend do sometime. what we do is one of us draws something on a sheet of paper, then the other one of us will add something to it or draw something of our own. by the end, we get some crazy drawings. it's fun and the end product is always interesting, especially since both of us are really random and kinda weird. he's alot better at drawing by hand than i am, but it still works, u can just tell my stick figures apart from his detailed people :P
anyways, this will work in a similar manner. i post a simple picture, then u save the pic to your computer, change 1 thing, post it. we will keep it going til the picture is full. dont change the canvas size!! and the rule for adding things can be it has to be something that if u hit undo it would go away. only exception is like, if u wanna put ur face in on top of the stick figure's face, u could paste it then move it into place, which would be 2 undos worth of stuff. but yeah, keep it fun and interesting, and we oughta get a nice picture.
oh, and using filters in Photoshop is allowed. just whatever u do, make sure u say what u did when u post it. it'll be obvious at first, but as it gets more complex we may have trouble noticing new things.
here's the starter. not much, but it's not supposed to be much

Well, my friend, Kevin, and I draw one picture every day in German, using only lines. We each take turns drawing one line. By the end we sort of just add small details and break the whole turn idea, so we usually get something that looks something like this, which we did recently:

yeah, my drawings with matt are always crazy things, and we do them over an entire page. these drawings are how we autographed several people's yearbooks. hehehe
keep the steps coming folks, and try and use more than just black lines :P. i'll be sitting this thing out for a lil bit to see how it develops

GAH! i was trying to add some color and u messed it up!! anyways, straight up radial blur looked bad, so Magic Wand + Radial Blur =
http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/9274/step12.jpg
i wanted to keep the 4 lines around just because they started it all, so i selected just the gray parts with the magic wand and then radial blurred it. it's only 2 undos, so i think it's a legit move

June 23rd, 2004, 10:15 PM
thanks for keeping the thread in line, guys. and technically, Hydro's had to take several undos, what with the outlining of his picture and dragging and such, plus flattening the layers. so yeah, u cant do that ;) but u can do ocean ripple
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/990/step25.jpg
just wondering, when do u guys think we should stop? perhaps limit the number of steps? or just call it quits when it gets to looking really cool, or what? i say we should step at step 50 or something like that, and then start a new one, one have the starter image be somebody's picture or something. that might satisfy all the people who keep pasting in pics of board members, and would give us something a lil better than lines to work with.

It's a little scraggly looking now, but by the time we get to step 50 or whatnot it will shapen up a bit. And maybe this will start a new trend of using something besides filters ;)

That's the bad thing with these group drawings. I thought we'd end it after 50, but instead I think I'll just start a 2nd one, only with slightly different rules. I hope to avoid the overuse of filters in the 2nd group drawing, but I'm not sure how I'll set it up just yet. You'll find out how it will be when I make it :P
