      Back muscle pulls usually hurt more than anything else other than maybe shoulders, so it could be completely normal. If it's a pinching feeling it could definitely be a deeper pull and those can take awhile to go away. I have one right now ;(

      Recommendations: Stretching, light weight back exercises, foam rolling. You can try heat/ice as well, and rest.

      From there I simply recommend waiting. If the pain persists for weeks without showing signs of improvement, then go see a doctor.

      People that say you can't build calves and it's all genetic - a year ago I barely had any taper to my calves at all. They were practically straight! Put almost 2 inches on my calves this year.

        I'm still trying to push mine to 20.

        What I've been doing lately, since I keep forgetting to do them at the gym, is ride down one of the long conveyer belts at work, and just do standing calf raises until I hit the end. Instant 200+ reps.

          Jesus son. How big are your ankles? 20 inch calves are fucking massive.

          Mine are 8.5, calves are 16.25, as of today, which is up 2.25 inches from a year ago actually. Nice.

            I'm really stubby. My legs are shorter than Syhto's and I'm quite a bit taller than she is, haha. Ankles are 11 inches, I'm sitting at 17.5 for calves. They shrank, gotta start hitting actual weights!

              Had people saying I was doing a half squat, hit fucking parallel. Too bad I fell backward.

                    Better than falling forward.

                    And I never really go deeper than that. I don't care for squatting deep I guess. Probably a lack of flexibility, but whenever I squat deep I feel like I'm snapping some ligaments in my groin area. It really hurts.

                          @ 186 lbs, up from 156 @ the start of august when I finished my cut and started bulking.

                          I'll put on a few more pounds through march and then start cutting for 12+ weeks in april.

                              I cant even hit parallel, effin knee injury keeps me from hitting parallel, although I get close and I can't go over 315lbs for fear of blowing out my knee. I figure as long as the rest of your form is good (back straight, focusing your weight toward your heels) you should be good.

                                Yeah definitely. The only advantage to squatting deeper is if you go past parallel, most of the tension moves to your hams and glutes for the bottom of the motion, so you get the extra activation (rather than mostly quad if you're squatting parallel or higher).

                                I don't really care though. It's easy enough to hit glutes + hams separately.
