Somehow I get the feeling that people are going to have to jump through so many hoops to use Olimar effectively that he isn't going to be that great of a character. Though it'll be interesting to see how Sora implemented Pikmin use into his moveset, and what he can do with and without them.
He might not be too difficult to use, if Sakurai had him set up correctly.
WHEN do you think people die...?
When their heart is pierced by a bullet from a pistol...? No.
When they succumb to an incurable disease...? No.
When they drink soup made with a poisonous mushroom...? NO!!!
IT'S WHEN A PERSON IS FORGOTTEN...!!!
Missles arn't as good, her sex kick isn't as good, can't bomb jump easily, horrible roll and no wavedash to compensate for it, too tall, can only sweet-spot the grapple now so no more grapple cancels, no swd, less overall priority.
The only things that got buffed were her fair and uair.
This is bad news for me, Samus was my main.
She's already weaker by nature than some of the stronger characters like Fox, Falcon, Marth etc. And now they're making her even weaker? That's just sad. I had just started getting used to wavedash, I hope they at least kept the missile-cancels.
Zero Suit Samus better turn out as a kick ass playable character.
I find it hard to understand that Captain Olimar will be hard to use based on a couple of pictures of him. We know nothing of his move sets nor have we ever played the character.

This just get more and more interesting by the day. Even though Captain Olimar and Pikmin is what I least expected to be a character. Also, Snake's final smash sucks to me. I mean he jumps sky high only to hang from a helicopter ladder and shoot grenades at people. I mean its creative but why an attack that can be easily dodged?
Well, it's just like an FPS, all you have to do is get better at targeting the enemy, predict where they will move, and fire consecutive shots, forcing them to dodge only one and take the other.

Yeah, I am a samus/fox main and both of them got mega nerfed .
And they took missile-cancels out as well. No B moves cancel upon landing anymore. .
Edit: Also, you can no longer turn around B move in the air.

The original update said that Olimar couldn't even do a Smash attack without Pikmin. And getting Pikmin out of the ground probably takes a good bit of time.
Today's update only strengthened that, what with his total reliance on Pikmin. If you get knocked off the stage with no Pikmin in tow, you're dead. You also have to be able to grab Pikmin out of the ground, reorganize them occasionally, compensate for their differences...it just looks tedious. But, depending on the severity of all these things, Olimar may not be all that difficult to use. For instance, if the reorganization move is nearly instantaneous, if the Pikmin differences are only just noticeable, if grabbing the Pikmin out of the ground is done quickly, then it probably won't be too much of an issue.
Of course... it's original release date as we all know was December 3rd, which means it could've been out by now! But it was announced back in November that the new release date is Feb. 10. Just under a month to go!
The move where he picks the Pikman from the ground probably takes a bit of time just like Samus's charge attack would, however, I believe that the Pikman switch or recall should be relatively close to instantaneous. Also, it seems to me that he has to throw Pikman often, and you know how throws can work.
