I have trouble believing that you are not a troll because there is just no way just NO way you can be this dumb.

oh nooooooo world coming to an end because of internet. Amurica is the center of the known universe. If murica and twitch can't survive the reign of google then nothing will. And Obama is the center of the known universe.

This is what you sound like.

Please excuse my brevity on this because I'm posting from a phone, but definitely take note: This is bad, and a lot worse than you believe it to be. If you can't understand why, then you're simply not socially aware enough to understand the ramifications this has on the tool you are using to communicate with us.
so this is a studied thing that happens in the business world? I guess it was naive to believe it wouldn't happen then. Sorry for causing an uproar.

Still wanna know why Youtube is buying Twitch and not Google though

Re: Youtube to buy Twitch for $1 billion

Whether or not it's "Youtube" or "Google" is irrelevant because it is all owned by the same entity, and that is Google. There isn't really any need to argue against the arbitrary.

Here is another source for you that states the company acquiring Twitch is indeed "Google" if semantics really mean that much to you:

The three-year old site apparently turned down an offer from Microsoft in favour of a deal from Google, which wants to merge Twitch and its 45 million users with YouTube. By Samuel Gibbs

PM me if you find the secret.

lol the moment twitch becomes mainstream with ps4's automatic streaming and twitch plays pokemon, I knew something bad was gonna happen, just didn't expect a buyout from youtube.

Also, one of the reasons I believe this and the threat to Net Neutrality go hand in hand is because Google is also a provider in the sense that they have Google Fiber technology under their belt. The ground rules for freedom need to be spelled out for your 60+ year old congress men and constituents who have no idea how the Internet actually works; and they are only going to go in the direction of the money coming from companies like Comcast and Verizon (Who also has FiOS, by the way).

Basically just plug in your location at this website here:

And send them an e-mail (Be courteous, there are a lot of examples out there).

And also call the FCC while you're at it (borrowed from Reddit):
                  1. Dial 888-225-5322
                  2. push 1, 4, 0 (Edit: These options may have changed)
                  3. a person will answer.
                  4. they will ask for your name and address. you can just give them a zip code if you want.
                  5. "I'm calling to ask the FCC to reclassify Internet Service Providers as Title Two Common Carriers."
                  6. They'll ask if there is anything else you would like to add.
                  7. "No, Thank you for your time."
                  8. hang up.
It's especially important for American Citizens that post here to do the same as well, and I certainly hope the Non-Americans urge their friends who do live in America to do the same, because this seriously sets up some pretty scary precedents for the rest of the WWW. Myself, other folks at work, and the other online communities I go to are doing the same.

more on what DigitalS3r4ph had to say here:
The FCC Just Approved A Proposal That Will Completely Change The Internet As We Know It - the fcc approves "internet fast lane"

also i dont think that people realize that all these major changes regarding the internet issues going on in america are going to affect those outside of america as well.

back on topic of google/youtube & twitch.. TotalBiscuit discusses the acquisition, and it is a very very interesting listen:

Given that the internet was invented by the US government, I'm not sure that it matters.
