Re: ~*Winter Break Anime Fun!*~
Sorry guys, I know a good portion of you like this idea, but I have to disagree.
I work full time and people around me often come around with spontaneous events that I can't really plan for. Friday nights are easy on me. I know I won't be working the next day, so there is nothing to worry about in regard to getting the right amount of sleep. It's also a day where I'm least likely to be caught up in other business.
Having to plan out for 2 episodes a day every day (2x7=14 vs 3) is not only a lot more difficult, but the amount of time I'd have left to sleep before work wouldn't be enough to get me through the day.
Meaning, you could count on me having to miss Monday through Thursday.
Not only that, but the three different series of anime that I've already committed to watching would be played on days where I'm not around.
This makes me feel left out, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one with this problem.
I don't want to shoot down your idea and leave you guys hanging with a tough decision, so I'll propose an idea or two.
I'm sure you will all be able to come up with others, if these don't seem acceptable.
I just don't see this working for everyone, and would highly recommend that we don't implement an idea like this after the marathon has already started.
Idea 1 - Multi-thon:
Rather than spreading out the already extremely short anime series throughout the week, there could be another selection of anime to watch on days that are not Friday. It doesn't have to include more than one series. Playing too many shows at once will confuse those who have trouble concentrating. However, with 7 days a week at your disposal, you now have the power of time.
This means, you could easily select a series that has 40+ episodes and know it would finish sometime in February.
(Great Teacher Onizuka, Full Metal Alchemist, etc)
Idea 2 - Multi-cast:
This involves a second showing of the already selected anime. I don't like it as much as the Multi-thon idea, however it's still not an entirely bad suggestion. The shows played on Friday could have a separate playing on the other days of the week. You would have to keep track on where both play times leave off, but that shouldn't be too hard. Those who watch the anime early could watch on Fridays without worrying about someone shouting "Hitler" in Skype.
The biggest problem you'd run into with this idea is duration. Those watching every day of the week will finish the series well before those who only watch on Friday.
You'll have to come up with ideas to entertain those who are watching every day.
As I said, I'm sure you guys could come up with other ideas. Just note that mine have one major thing in common.
They keep the integrity of the Friday showings.
People like myself would be outcast if this were to change, and would have no choice but to stop coming. Last night was really fun, and honestly, I don't want something like that to happen.Comment

I understand where dragon's coming from. Time zones also play into this. Let's not be so hasty here with a decision. As people do have work and stuff, I understand that they wouldn't want to stay up 2 hours past midnight but only having to wake up at 6am.

This seems like a good idea, actually. I was worried that if we only did daily showings, some people wouldn't have free time in their schedules to join the event, or just barely seem to manage to join when the showing is almost over.Idea 1 - Multi-thon:

I noticed last night that Nichijou really clicked with a lot of us. Hilarious, random, and you don't need to watch every single episode to know what's going on or get the hilarious jokes/gags. It's definitely an anime that won't lose its charm if we did watch it everyday. How about showing a different comedy anime for the daily showings? I know of one that I'm watching right now called SKET Dance, and I can vouch for its comedy and safely say it won't get boring or dull to marathon daily. It's also 77 episodes long.
Here's the link and check it out and the reviews if you'd like: http://myanimelist.net/anime/9863/SKET_Dance
We could choose another anime, like FMA, Gintama, etc. if you don't agree on mine. As long as it still captures our attention and interest and if it's a long series to last as a daily showing.
No one does. I'm sure eventually the amount of people able to join us to watch some anime will dwindle down to a low single digit number. That's why I think your idea of Multi-thon will work. People that have different days off on the week will be able to join us. There's always going to be an opportunity for everyone. As I said, I'm sure you guys could come up with other ideas. Also, SPON CON!!
I'm interested in Nichijou right now. It's really rewatchable in my opinion. My favorite character is Professor. She's so cute >w<. The flash drive scene where the toe comes off and stuff was my favorite part so far in our watching of it.

Re: ~*Winter Break Anime Fun!*~
The main thing for me, is that it would work out a lot better if it's at 11:30 instead of 11, since I'd hate to miss out on watching Nichijou with everyone since that's a fun one to watch with the group. The only reason I was able to participate last night at 11 was because it was slow this week at work because of Christmas, otherwise I'm usually never off on Fridays.
I could watch the episode I missed after the other show or shows (whichever idea we choose), but I'd just hate to miss watching it with everyone since it's more entertaining to watch with the group.

Re: ~*Winter Break Anime Fun!*~
I'm all for keeping Fridays since Saturday will be my only permanent day off from work for school purposes. The idea also allows for people to keep up on the series a ton easier then if we watched every night during the week while people have work/school and such. It's hard to pinpoint an exact time during such cases because of time zones etc. A weekend thing could work for the series, however we would be extending the time frame from one month to a couple or more. I'm 100% ok with this on my end since I'm a cave dweller anywho. I know a few people would have a little trouble with that starting their courses back up such as Kjwkjw in march.
I think the idea of having a longer anime run throughout the week, while the main points of interests are something during the weekend when most people can enjoy it is a very nice idea as well.
Overall I think this is a great suggestion. I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on it.Comment

Re: ~*Winter Break Anime Fun!*~
I think many people would be able to keep up with this for an extended period of time if it was kept to weekends only (myself included since I will be available at least during the weekends even when the new semester starts, only with the possible exception of exam seasons). I'm okay with the weekly plan, and I'm sure all of us would want to stick to a schedule that will accommodate as many willing watchers as possible.
Also this means I might rush ahead for Non Non Biyori and Bakemonogatari at my pace because I'm pretty free this winter, and those first episodes have really caught my interest >w< I'd still join in for the group sessions, of course.

I really like the Multi-thon idea that dragon890x proposed because it would most likely allow a lot more people to watch anime together on the weekends, and it would be exciting to watch anime that we only watch once a week. ^.^hi
