Well if you just want to lose weight, tbh you don't really need to workout.

You'll get muscle wasting though. It's best to introduce some form of resistance training to prevent this.

I remember back when I tried to take the weight off as fast as possible without exercising. It worked really well, but I just ended up looking skinny fat because I lost a lot of muscle mass.

One thing that helps is to find work where you have access to a computer. Try to see if there is any opportunity to work as a technician at your school, or staff a lab, etc. It's less stressful and gives you a chance to get some studying/homework done.

Waking up earlier is also an option, but of course 8am is already pretty darn early. Regardless, if you can wake up at 6:30, for instance, that's enough time right there to work out and then go to class. At least for me, when I was in undergrad, I was able to get a lot more done when I woke up early and went to bed a bit on the early side, compared to waking up as late as possible + going to bed really late. Also helps make studying more efficient.

You say you have class Tues-Thurs, so maybe just work out MWF so you don't have to mess with your class schedule too much.

My only concern with just eating less is that I know you have a lot more muscle mass than I do:

May not be a big deal, but still -- I don't know how well serving + playing volleyball preserves muscle mass.

Haha, I know -- just showing it for comparison purposes since we're side by side there

Damn now I want to play again... need to check when the next meetup is, lol.

But yeah today I get to make an ass out of myself at the gym by being that dude who has no idea what he's doing. I've never been near a squat rack before... honestly really nervous. Not sure where I'm supposed to perform deadlifts/bent-over rows/etc either. I'm guessing anywhere, but I just don't want to stick out, is all. This week is mostly devoted to learning proper form/avoiding injury.

I'm recording the weight for informational/stat purposes. Not going to take it too seriously unless there's an obvious problem. I see no harm in weighing myself every day, though. As long as my strength is going up in the gym, that's all I care about right now. The way the current routine is set up, the goal is a 10% increase in max weight every few weeks or so (heavy Monday, medium Wednesday, light Friday, with HIIT Tuesday and Thursday), with reps increasing with each week. As long as that's happening, I consider that to be the real progress for now.

Just Take over a squat rack, do it all right there. The only thing I've used a smith machine for regularly is teaching myself the right way to do bent over rows, because you can pull that bar right to your stomach without too much hassle. Thats good for learning.

Considering you were panicking a few days ago about staying 225...thats why we say not to weigh every day.

Speaking of ITG, I'm seriously considering using ITG as my main cardio focus when I cut.

This was prior to gym lol. Also way better than this now. I have almost a 99 on Quasar.

Can anyone share tips about the following exercises I posted a while back (angles, grips, any other misc. tips worth keeping in mind, etc)

                            Squats
                            Bench press
                            Bent-over rows
                            Military press/overhead press
                            Stiff-legged deadlifts
                            Barbell curls
                            Calf raises

Basically the more I know the better I'll feel :X I'm looking up videos online but still feel totally unprepared... anything helps!
