do we have permission for chipscape? O.O
cuz if so then i'll just send my file without editting it for laziness's sake. also chipscape is 128th notes, no 48ths lmao

How in the crap do you make 128th notes? (Also, i went in and replaced all the 48ths with 64ths.) Edit: Why is it that, even if an artist has 2+ of their songs ingame, that we dont have blanklist permission for them? (Refering here to t+pazolite). Because i'm tired of seeing an artist having a song ingame and going "Oh, that's a cool band, i think i'll step some of it" and then realizing that "we only had permission for that song" or "You can only do songs from Here" or even "We have a few songs by them, but we never bothered to get full permissions"

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
128th notes can only be found in Stepmania CVS, or 4.0.
However, you shouldn't really be using them because 128th notes are rarely used in any music at all and they're pointless, unless you want to "paint" your stepfiles or if you need them for syncing purposes.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
a good note... if your files keep getting nothing but - or ?, step easier stuff. the harder a file is, the harder it is to step... and the harder it is to get accepted.
step 4 or 5 footers. it's really easy to get them accepted. otherwise you're going to keep whoring this thread up with commentary on ****ty files that waste the time of shash, jx, and blu. shash and blu have talked to me about adding a rule that if you submit 2 files that both get -'s, you get banned from submitting for a batch or two. i disagree.... because the only way to improve is to keep trying and to learn what you're doing wrong. BUT. you should start out stepping easier stuff and then progress to harder stuff as you get better and learn what you're doing... and also have non-judges (WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!) test your files, and listen to what they say, and fix your file... then submit. having someone as clueless as you testing your file is not going to be helpful at all.

they are not useless at all. for more complex songs they might be necessary to use in syncing, even at decently high bpms. I believe jimerax knows the technical aspects of using complex rhythms

cyrx, sg: When I want to use 128ths I just double the BPM and use 64ths. In other word if you have to use 128ths your BPM setting is too low. For syncing I just use 192nds. Last edited by jimerax; 08-17-2008 at 10:42 PM.. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
blu and i were talking, and realized that most people who submit really crappy files that get -'s tend to never re-submit. they just toss it and submit a new file that is equally as crappy.
so, we were thinking that a decent change to policy would be that if you submit 2 files (doesn't have to be in the same batch) that get -'s from all 3 judges, you'd be limited to 1 file to submit... and that file would HAVE to be a resubmit. that way, the stepfiler would be forced to work on their file, listen to commentary on what's wrong with it, and attempt to start fixing it. it would be the first step in them actually submitting a decent file.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
Are you going to keep track of these people in this thread or something?
There is definitely logic behind the concept though - I like it. Not like my opinion truly matters for much anyways, but still. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
Sooo...ah, a lot of you don't know me, my account is shared by 2 people other than myself (one being daman, though I forbid him from doing anything but playing because he misses playing songs)
The other is redhead inferno, who started writing his own music, he's also a great stepartist (you should see some of his files, they rock), and he is currently stepping: Gentlemen by VS 2 Disturbed songs Versatile by Kgz Field of Snow v2 by Kgz (full version stepped to full potential, lots of jumps and stream etc.) Crescent Moon by OSTER Project (cleaning up daman's mess because he's not allowed to send files anymore lol) That's all, and also, with new rules on stepping, hands are only in FMO+ songs, right? And in case we step Emiru Maniax, is 450 bpm 12th stream and long 24th roll walls aloud? (listen to the song, it makes sense) Peace EDIT: for IP reasons, we're all at daman's house since tomorrow we're all seeing Pineapple Express and Tropic Thunder back to back 2nd EDIT: Forgot, 1 mor question plz, Redhead here, I'm also steppin' The Crow's Newspaper by Dbu, I play professional Drums and Piano, and for the alternating drum rolls in the song, is 180 BPM 32nd stream allowed? I don't play FFR, so I'z not sure, but if it's chill then just tell me k? Last edited by stavie33; 08-17-2008 at 10:57 PM.. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
hi19: i'm capping you at 30 for this batch... i think that's mor than fair. and, jx and i were talking... i still feel 30 is absolutely ridiculous for 1 batch (even though it is 2 for you)... if 50% of your files aren't queue'd of those 30, i'm going to cap you lower for next batch. like, 10. still a retardedly high number, IMO.
just fair warning.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I've been stepping Blue-Violet by KgZ and it's basically a rainbow of notes.
It's pretty fun actually, and it seems to be synced good to me. Go Assist Tick! I haven't been working on it the last two days though because it's too hot in my room.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I use notepad for note denominations not supported by SM. If you need 128th notes, make 128 rows of 0's and go. Need 43rd notes? Make 43 rows of 0's and go.
