Well, if you added one on for every jump, two for every triplet, and three for every quad, and however many more each hold would be, then I would expect the SM estimate to be way off. Jeez shash, you did what you said might break the game.
Doug: It's 4616 as in jumps = 2, hands = 3, quads = 4
Yes, I know, I was basically saying that a quad would count as 3 MORE THAN what SM counted it as, and stuff like that, explaining how for off Turboyoshi's estimate was.

Did someone forget Sonic 1 Final Zone, which has 178 notes?
Here are a few comments, for whatever they're worth. The news for Bomb the Base mentioned being open to comments. Since I was able to PC it with some practice and anticipating the notes following the triplets about 2/3 of the way in, I'd say it's in the area of mid/high 1 to low/mid 1.5. I've only got one PC above 1.5 (Snowflakes at 2), and the rest don't go above mid-1.5 with Spontaneous Hydroxide being the hardest in that group. I haven't PCed everything up to there though, so I'd put Bomb the Base in that area. I'm not sure exactly where though. It's fairly easy, but the triplet pattern is different from the rest of the song, and I didn't expect it on my first play. It also seems like the notes following that triplet pattern come in a little off-sync. High 1 or low 1.5 is my guess, perhaps 1.5 because of the triplets?, but I bet many of you can make a better estimate.
Regarding Water Like Pudding and 4F73R M3, the former is definitely harder for me. My best score on 4F73R M3 is with a 771 combo; the end is what always messes me up even though I can read it (I think). I can't always get that high of a combo, but I feel like I should if I practiced it more. I can read and hit most patterns, so maybe it's an endurance or concentration problem. (I think it's similar for Song for the Nihonjins.) Water Like Pudding almost always causes problems for me, but since I don't play it much, I can't remember exactly where. My best score on this song has a max combo of 270. *shrug* So personally, I think I'd agree with keeping Water Like Pudding below 4F73R M3, and I'll leave the exact placements to those of you who can judge them far better than I can.
