Alright, I have something to say to all the guys out there that dislike vibrating:

You're an MA/speed ******, your scores don't impress me, extreme vibrating is a skill that only a few players acquire while MA/speed is what over 70% of the stepmania players have.

Extreme vibrating is a good talent, I don't dislike it, but that doesn't give you the right to call everyone MA/speed ******s. (Not that I care anyway, since I almost never visit this thread or any other SM thread).

Halogen, he was joking you idiot.

Also, I don't dislike vibrating, but it's like the scores have less impact on me. However, I love vibrating vids, and ma vids are boring as ****.

post-dumps abstractly represent the existential nihilism that the song invokes in the listener with negative space, evoking the ephemeral nature of the mind - the journey of stepmania begins in hope yet soon becomes corroded into a dialectic of futility, leaving only a sense of dread and the unlikelihood of a new synthesis

the difference being ma/speed being skills that generally need to be honed over long periods of time whereas the best vibrators tend to START OFF as the best vibrators. this is not to say vibrating is not a skill that can be improved through practice, but it's still a lot less impressive to see someone using a skill they pretty much have by default (guys like jevanjo and henkz who can't really do much besides vibrating and you and isaac who started off posting top-tier vibrating scores then with hundreds of hours of practice developed speed and MA)
                      squirrel--it's whats for dinner.

Re: Say hello to your new WookE

Not trying to knock you, Dossar, as I think you are, in general, a great SM player with good accuracy/speed/etc.

But, overall, I find vibrating to be silly compared to something like speed/MA. Having the focus and dexterity to pull out great MA/high speed scores is really impressive due to the well-integrated combination of mental and physical effort, and it's not something you can just develop overnight.

Vibration is just physical effort, in my eyes. It doesn't take much effort to look at a huge high-density cluster**** of arrows to realize "Alright, shakey time." And then it's a matter of just being able to maintain the vibration long enough to make it through whatever you're trying to go for.

It reminds me of new players to DDR/SM who always ask, "What if I just hit every arrow at the same time?" It's the same sort of logic with vibrating, in a sense -- something that doesn't require any real interpretation of the specific arrow patterns.

To me, FFR/SM/DDR are dance games. I like hitting steps to music in a way that makes sense, where I can feel the beats in my taps and accomplish high scores as a result of accurate mental/physical effort directed into every arrow that comes up on the screen. Just vibrating all the keys over a bunch of arrows, to me, isn't stimulating at all. It doesn't feel like I'm playing a dance game when I play files that are primarily meant for vibrating. Even if I do well on a vibration song, I always go, "Well, that's cool... but I didn't really do anything special. I didn't have to think. All I did was shake my keys."

anyone can ****ing vibrate, not everyone can MA nor does everyone have speed. if you can't vibrate then you probably have some kind of muscle issue.
