whenever i play SM my eyes go all over the screen and it makes me fall behind which is never a problem i had with FFR.. anyone else get this when they first started playing? if anyone's willing to PM me on how to fix my settings (arrow receptor spacing, turning off accuracy, etc.) that'd be great. still like this score even though i can barely tell what's going on 50% of the time

I think I can help you out in here.

Go into your metrics.ini in whatever theme you're using, and Ctrl+F for "[Combo" (without the quotation marks). If you're using the default theme, you should see this:

I'm only showing the Number and Label metrics, as these are the ones you're going to have to change. Now, copy and paste this over them:

Stepmania should still work and your combo and judgment display should kapoof.
