in lane, if you need the defense, you can grab a null magic mantle, but that's as far as you should go. if you need mana regen, get 3 doran's rings
late game, if you can't seem to get your hands on blue buff, then sure you can grab a chalice if you can't afford archangel. if you feel that the magic resist is that important, then you can upgrade. otherwise, archangel's is betterRhythm Simulation Guide

My friends and I were trying to do an in-house 5v5 last night. We got stuck at 9 people when my drunk friend got impatient >.>. He started a 4v5 and arranged the teams slightly so a 4v5 would be a little more fair. We got the teams sorted out and ended up with....
Mordekaiser, Xin Zhao, Gangplank, and Skarner
vs
Singed, Lee Sin, Ahri, Nocturne, and Soraka.
I was playing Mordekaiser, so I already had high hopes for at least putting up a good fight :3. Of course, early game was a bit of a hell for us since we ran three solo lanes and a jungler. I never had a problem vs Ahri, Xin never had a problem top against Singed until he over-extended ( >.> ), and GP actually held down the bot lane turret pretty well. We started losing turrets around the time we were all levels 7-9, but stabilized after losing 4. I think we only lost one inner turret... It pretty much came down to Xin and I getting so farmed that we didn't give a damn about the other team tried to do.
All in all, the game went on about 42 minutes before we were able to pick a couple people off and rush down mid for the win. The bitching about Morde being a shit champ.... the complaints were everywhere! hahahahaha
