Legs seem pretty average honestly, but that's not a bad thing. Less bodyfat makes your vastus medialis much more visible.

Good job on the walking and eating though cause those are both things that are good.

I haven't posted here in a while because I haven't really made any progress. Towards the end of the last year I tore a muscle in my lower back during deadlifts and was forced to take a break. I have since started going to the gym again, but all of my lifts are significantly lower than they used to be with the exception of bench. Just hit my previous PR of 275 again today.

        Re: Misc. progress thread

        Nice bench. Looked casual.

Cut was going really well. Was down to 188.5 from 202, maintaining strength.

Got a minor disk injury last week though...doing leg press of all things.

Pretty fucking pissed about it, but it is healing up nicely. Taking it easy and going light in the meantime, but going to try and get back on my diet train after a couple days of eating poorly (I didn't think it was a good idea to try and recover from a back injury on a serious deficit so I moved up to maintenance).

Lifts pretty bad, but right now I mostly care about recovering and am just going to do high reps. Incline bench I was doing 205x8 to chest pre-injury. Yesterday I was playing around with 135x20 paused, but when I moved up to 155 for a single set I threw my back out after the second rep lmao. So fuck that, I'm going light on everything for at least another 2 weeks before adding any serious amount of weight.

Hit some weird PRs the last bit.

375x8 squat, can probably do 10.
325x17 squat. Shoulda had 20 but forgot to chalk my back
275x10 stiff leg DL (with a starting PR of 275x4, with a deadlift PR of 457. I suck at these and was happy to get them stronger).
220x10 close grip bench (before shoulder got fucked. almost unfucked now I think)

Bodyweight is down to about 219.7 now, started at 231.6 after my meet on November 7th. Not sure if I posted my meet video in here but it went well.

            Hit a 452 squat for a 39lb PR from July 11th.
Hit a 292 bench, and missed 308 by a hair, up 2.5kg since July 11th.
Hit a 457 deadlift, which was up by 17lb from July 11th.

Totaled 1201@ 220 for a nice PR over my 1141@ 217 total in July. Still kinda crappy numbers but they are going up. I did water cut to weigh in at 218.8 for that meet though, actual bodyweight was more like 230 on meet day.

All the lifts are going up slowly and steadily. Can't complain about progress. Planning on competing at 198 in June 2016, and in knee wraps for my first meet. I have some big goals for that meet.

At the doctor's for my back, started hurting to squat a bit before Christmas break so I took that time to rest, came back and the exact same spot is hurting. Took a bit more time off and had to shovel on Friday, pain returns to the same spot :l

I've been learning to make Android apps lately (for fun).

The first thing I'd like to make is a simple fitness app. Let me know if there's a feature you'd really like to see.

videos for every exercise plus common mistakes

given all the things I end up having to direct people to, the lack of a good consolidated exercise video directory is one of my bigger frustrations

                    Thanks Arch.

                    Another question to everyone:

Let's say you follow PPL or ICF, etc. -- something that has you doing different exercises on different days, and there may or may not be a shared exercise between any given pair of days.

If you miss a workout, do you ignore it and simply proceed with the next workout, the only difference being that you're not overloading weight to what it should have been had you not missed the workout? Or do you handle missed days differently?

If I miss a day I just do exactly what I was planning to do before except on the new day.

What kinds of details are you interested in tracking over time? (I'll probably allow people to track arbitrary items but I may still invoke some popular defaults)

I pulled my neck while doing overhead presses. It hurts. 7 hours in and the pain still isn't going away. I can turn my neck around if I do it really slowly. Should I go see a doctor, or will this naturally go away with time?

The information you've given is too vague. What does the pain feel like? Continuous, pulsating, radiating, isolated etc? How bad is it on a scale from 1 to 10? Is there any swelling? Bruising, redness? Any change in mobility?

Take ibuprofen, rest it, ice/heat as necessary. Most likely it will heal on its own, as do most injuries. If it is getting better as the days go on then I would say you're wasting your time going to a doc.

If it doesn't get better, go to a doc.

Also next time try your best to keep your neck in a neutral position and not to put too much stress on it. Pulling muscles in your neck is pretty common on OHP.

I got a fitbit for free the other day, figured I'd give it a test drive for a few months.

it counts "steps" and gives you a ballpark of how many calories you've burned up to each point in the day (which is pretty coul) and tells you if you're under/over calories taking into account what you've eaten.

I strictly use it as a guideline but I do find it more motivating to see a better visual on caloric intake. Though idk how realistic it is that I burned 4000 calories in a day and tells me i can eat 3500 and be on course for target weight.

What this thing has done however is greatly encourage me to exercise. Setting step goals as arbitrary as it may be does bring out a compulsive side of myself that craves achievement. Find myself walking 20km somedays
