I played one match with him, and he basically blasted our elos through the roof. everyone on our team got COMPLETELY ripped, except for chauster who somehow managed to go 1/0/1 or something like that

This was a reply in another thread. I'd elaborate on the other posts but you'll understand what I'm trying to point out here:

LoL is a ****ty "remastered" bersion of DotA. There's barely any similarities in just playing the game. Besides the concept of heroes, waves of creep spawns and getting gold, the fundamentals of playing LoL lies primarily in 1) Play in so many games so you can level up to 30, 2) Get the right item for you hero, 3) Don't get hit by the tower and 4) It's a free game but you're going to have to spend money anyway if you want to play any of the fun heroes. It doesn't matter how ****ty you are because you don't lose gold when dying, you don't get extra gold from last hitting towers, and you [b]can't even deny creeps.[b/] You can't creep block, there's no strategic place to put wards, wtf is a town portal, runes don't exist....there's just (not as much, for you crybabies) no skill involved in the game.

If you're a casual gamer and you want to have fun while still being a ****ty player and get the excitement of getting a few kills, sure go ahead and play LoL. If you do play, get to 30, get into a really great killing spree and come back and say you're pro I'm just going to LoL at you.


But if you're into serious and competitive gameplay, get Heroes of Newerth. Yes it's $30, but it's money well spent. You get the same atmosphere as DotA: the heroes are similar (more balanced actually with the new patch), last-hitting and denying are important, not dying is important, calling your miss, etc. Fog of War is more accurate, items and shops are neatly organized (and there's a nifty "Recommended items" area for the new players), and there's constant updates and feedback from the devs on the forums. If you're good, you get praised. If you suck and you're ****ty, you'll be told and flamed with the handy-dandy in-game ventrilo. Come play with me if you want some pr0 skillz. IGN is Litodude.

I got bored after an hour.

Because that was how long the first game I played had gone on for and we had barely made it into enemy territory. Zzz.

@Litodude that must be the most ridiculous description about LoL that I've ever read. Almost everything you said there doesn't make sense because you don't even know the game that well.

1) is true; everybody who plays lol is horrible except for people who have regular teams in ranked 5v5
2), based on how killing your own creeps+losing money when you die = needing to find some way around getting items in dota/hon, is true
3)... yeah pretty much rofl, the idea of a "tank" in lol is basically "champ that can be built to ignore tower damage"
4) however is wrong
you do not need to spend real money on anything in the game except for skins or certain bundles, but usually the skins just introduce some gimmicky theme (hippie zilean! tango evelynn! GENTLEMAN CHO'GATH!) so you can just ignore them, and everything in the bundles (minus the skins) can be purchased using game points
ultimately success in lol is based around how the teams' champions line up, and the strategy is basically "you kill them, don't let them kill you"

items and shops are neatly organized (and there's a nifty "Recommended items" area for the new players)

this is exactly the same in lol wtf

anyway, i would love to try dota at some point, just cuz
it'd be hard as **** to remove the lol goggles but i'd try to look at the game as objectively as possible
