Roof was shiny because I forgot that I detatched the polygons to use lume glow in mr., so I applied the same material as I did on the plates etc... Dun ask >:]
Working on light-hit glowing now. I -really- suck at making good lightning.
DS, do you know why I for some reason can't use sky portal? They appear as big black boxes when I apply them outside my windows. The lightning looks a billion times better considering they actually send out background lightning/colors, but they look like black boxes. My teacher has given up, on other scenes, they don't, but if I merge my scene to a new one, the problem persists.
EDIT: As for the curtains, and prolly some other stuff, I've applied no smoothing/ts/s.groups on this scene, I guess the drapery would look better. I've also changed the carpet on the floor, using the right modifier, and the 'mirrors' on the walls are now paintings. Of red balls. For no obvious reason.
For god's sake woman its not LIGHTNING, its lighting.
And skylight won't work because it's an omniscient light, you have to turn on your advanced lighting shaders from the render panel for them to work.

Hi, english, no.
Norwegian much.
Skyportal, not light, and they're working perfectly but I can see the thing itself, it appears as a big black box for no obvious reason.. It's not supposed to be visible on the renderer.
Scintill: Don't pay much attention to the background that changes every 15th minute xD
Re: My first "real" 3D architecture assignment - Living room
Do you have an updated picture that you can post so we can see how much of it has been fixed?

Re: My first "real" 3D architecture assignment - Living room
Here is a new render
I'm still not happy with my curtains, I have one of both techs in this scene, I'll make some new.
Also the glow in the roof is because I forgot lume/glow was affected by sunlight in mental ray so I'll have to teak it.
I've also opened one of the windows but it was meh, so yeah. As for knobs I'll add that whenever I get down to it, for now it's all about textures and lighting
EDIT: also don't mention the background, I change that every 15th minute lol =p

Your light sources are still very confusing, i.e. the bright light spot on the left curtain. Where the hell is that coming from?
Guess.
I've fixed it now though.
I'll move over to my specular level on bumps soon.
If ANYONE, ANYONE AT ALL knows how I can get the blurry light reflection with mental ray and mr sun/sunlight/daylight system that you see on the 'original picture' (number two, first post) I would be very happy.
Sky portal was my obvious choice since it casts my enviroment as lighting but unfortunately it also had 500 bugs as in black boxes, spots, dots, sharp edges as if it was a mirror, not a lighting source.*
Re: My first "real" 3D architecture assignment - Living room
1) The shadows from the window frames aren't casting.
2) Turn that **** down.
3) The floor is completely the wrong color, fix that.
4) It looks like your wall isn't touching the ceiling right here and allowing light to come through.
5) Needs to be taller.
6) Keep at these curtains until you get them right.

Thank you darkshark!
1: As for the wall was originally a plane, it allows light through on the onesided spots around the window, I'll add some boxes<3
2: Rofl yeah I haven't made it transparent yet so it looks like a bomb
3: The floor was good once upon a time but I talked with the person grading me about it and he said I could change the colors aslong as the reflections and materials (i.e wood) maintained the same. I bought some ProMat zips, and the one I use now was the best, I was incapable of finding a good, dark one so I went with this. I still can't get the blurred outdoor reflections to work to save my life, though.
4: The wall isn't. It's very confusing to me, but on the original picture it seems like he has no "real" roof to cover that box, there's light coming around from everywhere. I've actually done that on purpose but I can't imitate his lighting, as I said, that's probably my biggest handicap; light.
5: I agree. But the picture looks ortographic, the "tv table" is supposed to be shorter, yet the space between them on the wall shall remain the same.. They shall end at the heigh of the doors yet are the same heigh as the picture, if that made sense.
