I can see where Choof's coming from. Using "It was accepted a long time ago that" is a bad as saying "My Religion states that" in terms of debatin

It's not the same because the reasons it was acceptable haven't changed. People being attracted to teenage girls made sense because it was when they were the most fertile and healthy.

Still today it is dangerous for women 28+ to have children which seems pretty young compared to increased life expectancy.

But the main reasons it was okay to have kids that young were

1/ Women were uneducated, and often property. Once they could have kids, it isn't like they were losing out on other opportunities because of motherhood

and

2/ Infant Mortality was so high, that you'd probably need to get pregnant 8 or 10 times just to actually have 2 or 3 kids survive into adulthood, so you needed to start early.

I suppose those factors have changed, but does it have anything to do with sexual attraction? I guess my reasons and those reasons are kind of unrelated and it would be impossible to prove that there was a general attraction to the girls they got pregnant at a younger age.

It implies that I think just as many people are attracted to young girls and boys because they happen to be wired that way, as do because they happen to be wired to be attracted to whatever is taboo no matter what it is.

What pedo-gene? It is just human nature to be attracted to young girls in development. Whether or not you suppress your human nature to appeal to what is socially acceptable these days is a different matter.

Also I think there's a difference between those who are attracted to children, and those who are attracted to taboo fetishes.

Not to be saying this in a derogatory manner, I wonder what actually causes people to be attracted to these things. I agree with the idea that you probably shouldn't be thrown in jail for this, but is this really a thing that can be phased out of a person?

Many people are just born with certain preferences. Oftentimes you cannot help what you find attractive.

If you're a straight male, for example, imagine being asked why you find women attractive, or whether or not you could "snap out of it" and change.
