Since it's been a while and no one answered my question, I'll ask again. Can anyone who has played it give an official statement on how Pikachu handles in relation to how he's handled in the past?

I know it's no substitute to talking to a real person, but this should hold you over until you get an answer.

I'm extremely curious as well. Pikachu is my main character in SSBM, and it sounds as though he got an upgrade. So I doubt that will change.

Edit: Found a Pikachu discussion thread: http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=140872

Edit #2: Pikachu's down smash is holy god amazing!

Items make the game more fun as well.
oh man, "it really grinds my gears" when someone doesnt want to play with weapons on. Thats the whole point of the game for me. Chucking a used up laser gun at pickachu's forehead - only to see it fly off screen to its death - no greater joy.

He's like how he was in 64. However all of his moves are faster; no more up-b lag, yay

There is no more wavedashing, am I right?

How does that effect the play of Brawl?

              A lot.

Though I imagine there will be plenty of glitches to replace it.
Also, about the "glitches are stupid" argument that was a few pages back, I personally use glitches in games because I find it more fun. More viable strategies = more replay value.

Wow. If this is true, this is all I could have ever asked for. Pikachu's nerf in Melee bugged me so much. He feels so much fatter.

Pika apparently stole Peach's down-smash from Melee.

Its very slow. There is a lot of ROLLING and not too many combos you can pull off. I don't like it as much as melee personally. It will take some getting use to

Now don't jump to conclusions here. If you've seen any of the old Melee tourney videos from like 2002, you'll see just how slow they seem in comparison to recent videos.

Brawl's been out less than a month. Give people time to get used to it, and get better at it. It will undoubtedly develop differently than how Melee did, but it will develop. Give it time.

                            Youtube it...

Snake has 5 things that make him an awesome character, and only two drawbacks.

                            Pros:
-Midweight character, can take a beating.
-High powered attacks that employ traps into combos
-A claymore on the edge of the stage makes for a difficult recovery for your enemies
-His B^ is one of the best recoveries in the game & you can attack again afterwards
-Final Smash is one of the best

                            Cons:
                            -Slow B moves
                            -Weak against speed characters

                            Hope this helps.
                            one hand, no mercy...

Just be careful about Snake's up-B. Don't get grabbed or else you die

Also, another con, is that he has a lot of lag on his moves, especially his aerials. This can be dealt with, but it's still noteworthy.

                                Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl

I got a chance to play this last night at a friends house who went a little overboard with an imported Wii and an imported copy of Brawl.

I have to say the gameplay is much more fun than Melee and the addition of all the characters is just amazing. My favorite new character is Metaknight although my favorite all time character is still Ness.

                                Characters I played as:
Metaknight- Amazing character, probably my favorite of the new smash, has many cool attacks like tornado and a spinning sword slash. His final smash is that cool wait then sword slice thing, although I could never hit anyone with it.

Lucas- Really fun, his pk spells are a bit faster than Ness's but don't do as much damage. Ness still is my favorite. His final smash was really easy to dodge since you could see the meteors falling down.

Ness- My favorite character overally, I'm glad they brought him back. His final smash is a lot better than Lucas since his starstorm falls at an angle and does more damage.

Pit- He is REALLY light, a bit hard to control. Once you get used to him he is kind of cheap since he has more mobility than many characters and his arrows can shoot far. He is alright though.

The final smashes were really cool although kind of annoying when the person playing as Sonic gets it like 5 times in a row since Super Sonic is really cheap.

We all used Gamecube controllers since that made the most sense. The controls were a bit weird at first to get used to since everything feels like it moves a bit slower than in Melee and all of the characters feel lighter but I like the change.

I am very impressed with what Nintendo did with Brawl.

Also, if anyone wants to know....
THERE IS NO WAVEDASHING. Nintendo took it out along with AIR DODGING. Well, you can still air dodge but you cannot move left or right or up or down while dodging. If you air dodge, you air dodge and place and cannot choose a direction to go. I like this better though in my opinion.
