This isn't for submissions, is it?
I can't really figure it out. I don't want to submit this music, I just want to get some feedback. http://www.thewrongband.com/music.htm There are multiple songs here, so I decided to just link to the page. This isn't dance music, or anything, just so you know. Also-- I had done all of the recording job by myself, and I hadn't ever done it before. I was winging it, half of the time, really. But enough excuses. Please just listen, enjoy, and be honest but not harsh with feedback.

Thank you. Actually, I wasn't expecting that.
But do you have any thoughts about the music?

I like the idea of it, but you might want to purchase a few singing lessons for learning to support notes (notes are sometimes going thin). The rest is a very good start.

Yeah, that's usually our most criticized part, sadly, the singing. He's getting better, though, just from singing more and more, you know?

Yeah. Still, just someone teaching you even just a few things will give you a different perspective and will help.

I listened to Here Comes the Curtain. Pretty decent recording for a first effort. I think the guitar was out of tune, most noticeably in the beginning during the quiet part. Either that or there are some really weird notes being played. Singing is ok; definitely better than I could do
. Song was pretty tight. Nice werk. |

When my badn first started in 96, the frontman couldn't sing, and well, got somewhat better, and couldn't even play guitar, so we had to front for him, so to speak.
He got better with time, which really changed the whole sound of the band, and we kind of got confused since we were so used to playing a certain way, and now we suddenly had all these opportunities to just kick even more ass. Really, the point of all this was that the Singing was always the main criticism of my band, too, but we made up for it with the rest of the band being solid (especially the rhythm section), and excellent showmanship on stage, as we all considered, and still do to this day, that those were more important to focus on than singing. I think you guys can try the same method until he catches up with you all. good luck ![]() I will say though, the drummer is a bit weak on his end.. I think him and the bassist can work on syncing up more together. My drummer and i practiced just about every day for almost two years after school for fun, and it got to the point where we would predict what each other would do. It was nuts, man..

Thank you all, I was expecting worse.
Hmm...the guitar could be out of tune...but I don't know and yeah, I believe that also, SpookGoblin. He'll get better, and if we're playing live and everyone is having a good time, I don't think people will focus as much on the singing. Plus, the singer is also the bass player.

It seems that it is always the singer that causes all the problems. For my Ska band, we went through 4 different singers. Then, finally we divided up the sing part to various members of the band. I had to sing two of our 7 or 8 songs, the bassist sang two and the guitarist sang the rest. We had some good songs too...damn. But then the guitarist quit.

Maybe because being a good singer is really difficult.
I mean sometimes, you can take lessons, and learn all you need for a specific style on guitar, or whatever instrument, but with singing, it's a bit trickier.

i thought my band's frontman had an unique voice, i mean, he couldn't really sing, but I didn't think it mattered, because it was entertaining to listen to him do whatever it was he did onstage.
It is hard to be a really good guitarist, and really difficult to be a good rhythm section player ( good drummers and bassists are so hard to find), and I believe singing is just as hard if not harder than any of those. What sucks with vocals is either you got it or you don't, you just can't go out and buy a new voice like you would an instrument

Well, I do think it's hard to be a good guitarist. But it really depends on who you're playing to. For many audiences, all you need is five notes, the minor pentatonic scale. Just jam on that, people will go nuts.
Now, other audience members, maybe who know more about music, or have a different view on it (not that it's bad the other way) just sometimes need other things to really enjoy it. And yes, drummers need to be able to at least keep the beat, if they can't do that, then it's very difficult. Hey, what do you call a drummer who broke up with his girlfriend? Homeless. Yuk yuk yuk. Okay, I'm sorry, that was a terrible joke, but it's the only one I know. But as you've said, your singer had a unique voice that was entertaining to listen to. That's can be just so good, and successful for playing live.

well I said -I- thought he had a unique voice..lol
here..you be the judge http://www.spookgoblin.com/sdl_bonzai.mp3 http://www.spookgoblin.com/sdl_raven.mp3 these are shitty recordings.. supposedly, almost two years after we broke up we might be reforming to just record all our old songs, so they would be MUCH BETTER in quality.. i dunno if i can remember how to play them though.

i really believe that there are no good singers/ bad singers in the world. everyone can sing in some form or another and as long as it fits the music it woirks out fine.

Yeah, those are good, Spook...or Goblin....or SpookGoblin, but yeah, I must say you're right. The singer isn't necessarily very skilled, but it sounds good with the style of music
