Anyone who is complaining about the D5 file technically: you're wrong. It's very accurately stepped, in fact, that's precisely the problem, it is TOO accurately stepped.

Anyone who is complaining about the D5 file's playability: lol yeah its pretty troll I don't disagree in the slightest. I usually pretty much only care about playability and smooth patterns so as a simfile artist sometimes it can be fun to let go (this attitude also leads to M.A.M.A., Thunder Light, etc.)

Anyone who is complaining about the D5 file being used in the tournament: Well, I do think the file is quite a bit much for D5 R2 and should have been used a little later in the tournament. But I also think it is a fine tournament file. Bursts are patterns too, even if a lot of people are bad at them/don't like them. Cheating weird patterns has always been a thing on FFR, and it's not like D5 should be "protected" from files that might require it

Oh yeah I have it almost finished, I was going to put it on my website but it turns out making a website is harder than I thought. Or, rather, it's exactly as hard as I thought.

This tournament was meant to be challenging. That's how tournaments work. So what if it's used as a R2 file for D5. It fits fine. Just play, work hard, and advance or don't :/

It doesn't matter how bad you are at a file.

It matters how bad you are compared to everyone else.

(kind of like how you don't need to outrun the bear, you just have to outrun one of your friends)

Will preface this by saying I think divinity garden is a great file. That being said, I actually don't think it makes that great of a tournament file either. When you have a largely smooth difficulty curve broken by very abrupt and awkward burst patterns (to the point where that's pretty much all that determines a person with the tested skill level's score) those patterns just become unduly frustrating to deal with. I felt the same way when D4? (or was it also D5, idr) got Press Start. Press Start is honestly a pretty cool/quirky file to play when you're not really pressured for a score, but in the tournament setting it felt very out of place (esp considering pattern manipulation was like the only way you could get past the 48ths). But yeah I suck at the file (lol 7 goods) so subjectivemanias weee.

This isn't a knock at Kayla or AJ for the file selection either, just my 2¢

a lot of my score on the d5 chart was based on forcing jumptrills in certain spots (all of the 1/48 rolls) and training my muscle memory to hit fast sections accurately. it took maybe 200+ tries to get the 6-0-0-1 score so it definitely wasn't the easiest thing so far.

Wow such an original comment. I'm not allowed to find a chart horrible. Just because you can't direct a better movie or produce a better song doesn't make the song or movie horrible!!!

I actually don't think it makes that great of a tournament file either.

If combo scoring was still a thing, then I may be inclined to agree, but now that breaking your combo won't totally rupture your score, I think this is a fine tournament file. Frustration is abound, but that is part of the journey in acquiring your accomplishments, isn't it?

pretty much the only 48th section you can't jumptrill is the staircase

i'm like 90% sure i jumptrilled that in my 6-0-0-1 run

edit: i also improved my score a slight bit so now i'm not 5 points ahead of second place

What staircase are you talking about? I didn't notice any.

Even though that D5 song is a minefield, it's still a great song and IMO a good choice for a tourney file. Even though it's frustrating to fuck up the bursts pretty consistently, god how it is satisfying to have that one good run which you need. What I hated the most is this pattern right here

It's actually not that bad because it comes so soon after the beginning (but it also appears again near the ending so UUHUHUH)

Due to this last spurt of lag this score did not record, but i was persistent and got the replay eventually. It's not enough to hit the cutoff and I concede that but I'd like the record to state I did in fact try! Got close but life > gaem so gg wp d6, I'll be ghosting and watching.
