Because the first thing I was thinking with the check is that Monster Kid is clear. Killing him in the night rather than the next day once he's confirmed monster gives us less to go off of for this phase.

Cereal was revealed to be the person who shot Cheese, and I would assume that guns work the same way as they did previously.
