Tachyon and Speedcore packs in general are a great example of this, as I have found songs from the upcoming Tachyon Zeta pack to be particularly fun to play. :s

Late edit: I have made this post under the assumption that actually appealing to the spread playerbase is at least somewhat of a concern to you, in addition to simply ensuring that they will not disapprove of your efforts. If you only feel concerned by the latter, then as the previous people in this thread said you have absolutely nothing to be worried about since at worst not many people will show much interest other than whatever demographic you are directly catering to.
Genuinely sincere question here, but what types of patterns would be considered awkward when playing spread? After seeing monstrosities like Death Piano I can't imagine anything pad-oriented being awkward for a KB player (unless, of course, Death Piano is just an exception). Also, what's the general consensus among KB players on speed gimmicks--exciting visual enhancements, or obnoxious, unnecessary frills?

It is to my understanding that within the spread community, there don't seem to be that many people that actually have one-hand trilling ability (left/down, or up/right trills) standing out as a strong suit comparatively to the rest of their skillset. Therefore as far as I'm concerned in terms of spread-friendly stream patterns, they would generally follow a structure along the lines of a single roll ([1][2][3][4] or [4][3][2][1] note pattern) coupled with complementary notes in order to have two measures filled. As long as they don't make it super-awkward to transition back to another roll pattern you should be fine...

Here is a visual example of this:

However, other than retarded crossover patterns I don't really know much about pad/index patterns that actually feel awkward to hit... so from there it would be up to you to balance out both factors if you're willing to take on that challenge.

Also X-mod (speed gimmick) courses are actually enjoyed by a decent amount of people depending on their quality and how well it actually matches the music I guess, though it should be treated as a different game mode altogether since the challenge provided would near-exclusively be reading-based rather than requiring you to actually push your physical speeds.

Hopefully this explanation should be good enough to answer your questions, if not... then perhaps someone better-versed than me in stepfile theory could provide a better one here. :s

How have you only posted 15 times before with such a high quality response! No, that explains things very well for me... additionally, I'm relieved to hear gimmicks are well-received here.

Now so many players play on keyboards, and almost don't care about pad notes =_+

FFR is more known for keyboard players rather than pad players. If you want pad files, r21freak.com is a better place to put pad files in since that's more of a dedicated pad community.
