I've bumped up a few in mine, always asking how they'd feel about it first and if they were comfortable with it. Hell one even requested it rather than taking a guaranteed division win. Ghost_Medley started in Zenith's as D1, instantly went D2 and ended up in D3. There needs to be some kind of rule for people with no scores to base their divisions off of..like play a random file from each difficulty or something instead of just tossing them into D1.

And who said I'm not trying? As far as I know I've nailed all of my D1 songs only to get rekt on stuff that's out of my skill range..but yeah, that's just me definitely being too lazy to try.

It really doesn't matter what you chose to do in your tournament, this isn't your tournament. I also don't know where you're getting having no scores to base the division off, puppy has more than 4000 games played.

As per your second half let me refresh you as to what your last post said.

There's no point in any D1 trying at this point, we're all just fighting for second place.

You could improve the stuff that's "out of your skill range" if you put in the work for it.

I've told this story many times but I'll tell it again. 5th official I was put in D2 with D1 scores. Instead of complaining about it when I found out I practiced, and worked at it. I had a round where I played a song 1000 times just to advance to the next round. There were people way beyond my skill and I managed to get up to 13th before my computer cable shit out on me and I couldn't get a new one before the new round ended. I think I could've pushed my way into top 3 had that not happened.

You've had a pretty poor attitude about a lot of things around the site in general. I don't want it in this thread anymore. You can either keep playing or you can drop that's your choice.

It makes complete sense in your mind to keep him in a division of others who clearly aren't D2? I thought this was a division + not division -

If he's found D2 in Round 4 on a 6 rounds tournament, it makes little sense to "just move him up" at this point. That may have been a different story on Round 1. You can't really prove that he was D2 before Round 1 started. If you could, you should have tried to do something about it back then. The best thing to do for you right now would be to try to figure how to get better scores for yourself. I agree that it may be frustrating, but this is a normal situation for tournaments. Now that you know he's that good, you have to find a way to cut goods or figure out patterns. Hope that helps.

O.o i just wanted to join in on a tourney and have fun with it. and i did look at my old scores from the first round and have definitely improved a lot cuz i've been practicing the songs like every day since the tourney started. btw ty psychoangel for starting this tourney or i never would have improved

also if you wanna take me out of the tourney or like, give me an auto second place i don't really mind. i'm just glad i got to know the community better with this tourney and have a lot of fun with the game in the process

O.o i just wanted to join in on a tourney and have fun with it. and i did look at my old scores from the first round and have definitely improved a lot cuz i've been practicing the songs like every day since the tourney started. btw ty psychoangel for starting this tourney or i never would have improved

Improvements happen, for me as well. Granted I think the issue was that I didn't realize I hated upscroll so much until I used down. Instant skill boost. Then gradual boosts from there. I love to see people skill boost. It gives me hope that I can get better. Like Portalbob... That guy has been forcing me do better since he keeps beating my scores. Like I've said, that guy is currently my Arch Enemy in D3. Anyways, ranting over. Good luck to everyone, peace & love to all!!!!

Someone improving =/= to being poorly placed. Puppy did not have D2 scores at the start of this tournament. Yes it makes complete sense to keep someone in the division they were placed in if they improved. You're basically saying take out anyone who's improved in any division and bump them up so they can't win.

You haven't been around the site long enough and it clearly shows. Go do some research of old officials and other tournaments. I've been hosting tournaments since 2009 and the number of them I have done is more than I can even remember.

Don't even worry about it, you have done absolutely nothing wrong. You should work at improving and that was a huge point of this tournament. I wanted people to get good practice in before the official started.

What I always did to skillboost was played songs out of my range then come back to my comfort zone. So like when I was trying to AAA what was the old level 9's I think those are like upper 40s low 50s now, I'd go and play upper 10s (old scale again, I think they start at what 56 now and go to 65) then go back. It really helped me out. I also played with my speed mod till I found something that really worked well for me.

Oh almost forgot, SM dumps boosted me up pretty good because it gave me speed and stamina.

I think part of Red's feelings stem from the fact that he's in D1. Not too long ago, before I stopped playing FFR for like 6 months or something, I was a consummate D1 noob. I played in the 6th official in D1 and got a blackflag on a AAA or die round, and got pretty frustrated. Then later I participated in the live mp tournament, and this is the part that really killed me.

It was a bracket style tournament with best of three wins and a loser's bracket. I beat a few people with not much difficulty, until I battled MKIIPro. He was way outta my league, and I just barely won one of the rounds (which still means I lost). In the end, I cleared out the whole loser's bracket, and played MKIIPro again in the finals. The second fight wasn't much different, and notably one of his picks was {Rose}. If I recall correctly he got an FC, which is a feat I only just recently was able to accomplish. Ever since then, it's been my goal to get better than him, to pay him back for his bs, and I've had to move to D2 to do it. The tenth official is my chance to get revenge.

tl;dr D1 has weird skill level issues. Once you get some perspective, you'll see it doesn't really matter that much. You can bet I don't think about being better than all the people in D1, or about all the people better than me in D3. You just have to find someone a little better than you, and do everything you can to best them. The divisions are just an arbitrary but convenient way to get similarly skilled people together. If a division has failed you in this respect, time to find another division.

What I always did to skillboost was played songs out of my range then come back to my comfort zone. Yeah, I do the same thing by playing higher ranked files from time to time. But I am not fond of a lot of the SM dumps enough to think about playing them. But the few times that I've played Fury of the Storm, has for sure gave me stamina and speed. I'll have to consider playing more files in the FFRMania section.
