No, no halogen. It isn't there. It gets added seconds after anyone requests it. That's how good we are. 8)Comment

Re: New Usergroup Icons Feedback
I personally find this to be a tremendous idea. The best example I can come up with is AJ himself. Dude, I think you had so many titles that they were a bigger stack than your entire avi haha. Looks much smoother now.
The only complaint I could have (and boy, this is a nitpick) is that I'd like them to be more vivid. The colors aren't bland, so to speak... They mostly look washed out. I don't know if adding a pixel-wide black border around them would help, or if simply picking more vivid colors would do the trick. Then again, vivid colors can get annoying, but boy I do love me some rad red or some lavish lavender!
Edit: I think the shapes you guys chose are a great idea, though. "The more the sides, the higher it is in ranking" is subtle, yet smart and efficient. Good design on that!Last edited by MarioNintendo; 08-1-2014, 01:20 PM.Comment

Re: New Usergroup Icons Feedback
These icons are pretty awesome.
Way better than the 2829382930239 titles people had under their name.
Props to whoever made 'em.Originally posted by FFR Forum AwardsBest FFR file from 2013:

Re: New Usergroup Icons Feedback
I don't like it... they're just random little colored shapes to me. Sure, I can mouseover them and see what they mean, but at a glance they're just random colored bits, and I don't think I'll be mousing over enough to actually learn them. Maybe if they were a bit bigger (twice?) and the icons were closely related to their meanings, I'd like them more. Like a musical note for Music Producer, an arrow for Simfile Author, a clock or calendar for Veteran, that kind of thing.Best AAA: Policy In The Sky [Oni] (81)

Re: New Usergroup Icons Feedback
I thought about that, but after the obvious music note and arrow thing, it gets trickier. Some people might not make the same kinds of connections, like a calendar could be for Event Staff, because they schedule events or if you think of events as being on a calendar.
I figured it would be more intuitive to have different shapes for different kinds of positions. Content Creators and Player Statuses got lumped together because they're both things you earn once and never lose. And the colors are the colors we're all familiar with, with a few slight tweaks, like the Music Author being more yellow again and Difficulty Consultant being halfway between Simfile Judge and Sectional Moderator.
The system will be more difficult for new people who had never seen title colors before, but the bottom of the FAQ lists all the titles and stuff. The original choice of colors may have been arbitrary, but it's consistent and shouldn't be hard to learn, with only Retired Staff, Event Staff and the Player Statuses sticking out, because they aren't in a group. Hmm. I suppose sectional moderators could be an even lighter green than profile moderators to keep with the "moderators are green" theme.Last edited by Silvuh; 08-2-2014, 04:02 PM.Comment

Re: New Usergroup Icons Feedback
would an option to toggle between icons and titles be possible? I think the icons are neat and help relieve some clutter (an example would be halogen's old set of titles, practically had a fuckin resume), but they're not very intuitiveLast edited by choof; 08-2-2014, 06:34 PM.Comment

Re: New Usergroup Icons Feedback
So, I don't know about you, but apart from the blue of veteran and one or two others I never learned these. A lot of them only appear on a couple of people, and get associated more with those people than with the titles (especially since people can choose their own username color), so you can only get used to the full set of colors by consciously paying attention to it and trying to memorize them, and I definitely never cared enough.
Anyway, maybe people could work on a basic set of shapes that make things more obvious. The geometry is good if you know what it means but no new user is going to realize how much more important a square is than a triangle. Even a letter (like an M shape for moderators) would help.
PS: What's the criterion to get Retired Staff? Were you a pentagon or up? Square or up?Last edited by qqwref; 08-3-2014, 10:32 AM.Best AAA: Policy In The Sky [Oni] (81)
