    Finished Madoka Magica

It wasn't a bad series by any means, the concept was fairly original, but it felt way rushed at the very end. The characters were fairly boring, and the twist that happens 3/4ths of the way through felt pretty forced.

It's was still prettying odd, but I don't see what the "drop everything and see now" hype was all about. I was expecting it to be a 24 episode series, especially since there was a great chance for a second half of the story with the ending.

Spice and Wolf (never finished, got halfway through it) might bore you
Blade of the Phantom Master dunno

Initial D Yeah. It's got like 5 seasons but the worst art I've seen on an anime in my entire life. Art is worse than Mars of Destruction. (*gasp*)
Tokyo Godfathers haven't watched or heard anyone say anything about it
        Hetalia: Axis Powers god no
edit: also I finished Trigun earlier today. For shounenshit it's pretty good. 9/10. (currently my highest rated Shounen.)

Nothing wrong with shounen stuff, action is always a nice touch.

Right before the last two episodes of Madoka is when Japan got hit by that tsunami. The show was put on hold for a few weeks so I'm not surprised if they were scrambling and the end. They remade the thing into movies which I have no yet seen, but I have to imagine that they took their time with it.

madoka movies are awesome. if you wanna see the updated art and recap the story then watch the first two, otherwise don't bother but definitely watch the third if you've seen the series or first two movies.

i would recommend watching the first two just because i thought it had more impact than the series (although i tend to forget stuff i watch really easily so the recap was also nice)

                  Re: Netflix animoo discussion

Bubblegum Crisis 2040 is an older but classic anime that's fairly well known. I haven't seen it, but it's supposed to be good.

I watched the first five episodes of Cardcaptor Yutaka Madoka last night, and although I don't think it belongs in the same untouchable company as stuff like Clannad, Eva, Steins Gate (presumably) and so on... I definitely like it more than Snowcrafta and Artic.

My gut wants to call it at least a 9.0. I feel like I'm enjoying it a little bit less than Bakemonogatari, but I still feel like it would be super-elite to most people.

Even before seeing it, I've recommended it to a handful of people just based on the style and what I've heard about it, so I was already excited going in, and it turned out to be just about as good as I expected. The characters could use a bit more definition, if I'm going to complain about anything.

I'd watch an entire show just about Madoka's mother though.

Five episodes into Madoka and loving the shit out of it

Definitely didn't expect a character to
get brutally murdered seconds after making an emotional breakthrough,
this is clearly not the show I thought I signed on for.

There was a saying back during the downtime after this tsusami that if you don't like magical girl anime than madoka is the perfect show for you because
they all die and the main girl never even becomes a magical girl.

Actually, that's not how I found it to work. In my opinion, in order to enjoy that show, you need to like magical girl anime from the beginning. Allow me to explain:

If you watch it expecting a normal magical girl show (meaning that you like that kind of stuff) then you'll be shocked. The *only* interesting point of that show is the shock value it provides by throwing at you something you're totally not ready for. Kind of like School Days.

If, like me, you can't stand that kind of anime and you go at it expecting something different, then you'll be disapointed. Tragedy only truly works when there is some attachement to the characters and considering that those could very well fit in any magical girl anime... Good idea, poor execution I guess.

The movies are > the series IMO. I've watched the movies 4-5 times each and own them Limited Edition (i'm a faget). I feel that they skipped/shortened certain things that were necessary to expand on things that were, and also because of that it flows a bit more. They're 2.5hrs each so be prepared be there for a while if you do. But yeah, it's totally worth it.

I dunno why everyone says the characters are flat/boring though *shrug* that's literally the only bad thing I hear about this series and I disagree.

Oh shit I just realized #3 is out on Bluray fuuuu (I don't own it yet). I went to see that one in theatres and I might've missed something the first time watching it, but it's not as good as the original series if you're looking for plot expansion. But if you're looking to see the magical girls doing magical girl things, then you'll probably like that movie. It gets pretty hard to follow near the end for most viewers. I still liked it enough to give it a 9/10 like the rest of the entries in the series.

also if you're expecting anyone to live in this series, then you don't know the reason they call him Gen "the Butcher".

Having some fun with Heavens Lost Property, always enjoy silly shows with tons of fan service. I never understood the obsession with panties in japan, but to each their own.

Exploding panties episode was god damn hilarious, however.
