Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 5
This doesn't sound very fair to me. It's not just to settle prizes, it's also a chance to participate in the coming round and even rounds after that. If other divisions need to do tiebreakers for situations like that I really don't think d7 should be exempt from that just because they both get prizes, it's like making the elimination more lenient. I'm sorry if this is something that should have been pm'd, but it was something that I thought could be given input from other people as well/have other people tell me how wrong I am, etcWon't need to happen -- you both have vRofl, and the sole purpose of tiebreakers are to settle prize rounds. You both will go on to round 6.
EDIT: I'm dumb -- you guys are D7 and get vRofl anyway lmfao; don't mind me -- just know that you're going on to the next round lol (thanks kjwkjw for bringing me out of stupidity xD)
D5 on the other hand will need a tiebreaker for sure.

Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 5
-technically-, I do have a file that could be used as a D7 tiebreaker in this situation. I did intend on tiebreakers only for settling prize situations at the start of the tournament.
I respect your post, it's not a negatively intended one -- it's your opinion and I completely respect it. D5 is a bit different in this case because there are 13 identical perfect scores, and some of these players do not have the vRofl token, so they will have to fight for it.
But yeah, D7 technically could have a tiebreaker if absolutely necessary...Comment

Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 5
I think round 6 not having a tiebreaker is fine, since D7 is already given vROFL for participating, instead of top 8. I understand what you mean when you said that it's also a chance to participate in the upcoming round, but it just doesn't make sense to me why you would have a tiebreaker for a non-prize round if the rounds before them don't. I think it's more of a consistency thing more than anything, but I could be wrong. This doesn't sound very fair to me. It's not just to settle prizes, it's also a chance to participate in the coming round and even rounds after that. EDIT: Didn't see AJ's post above me, oopsComment

Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 5
The point that alloyus brings up is that one player or the other making it through technically changes the potential outcome of the tournament compared to both making it through (for example: if this tiebreaker doesn't happen and round 6 happens to be something they're both good at, they run the risk of knocking someone out who might not have been k/o'd in the first place). Being that there's so few players left, this could drastically change the outcome of the overall result, which at this point might as well be the bragging rights for doing as well as you did in the top division.Comment

Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 5
Yeah, I understand that, I just don't think that the outcome of the tournament would really change all that much to begin with. Even then I personally think that if the scores are tied, the both of you should continue anyway.Comment

Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 5
nop
and yeah, I'm going to let them both move on, and for two reasons:
- 1.) as mentioned before, the intention of tiebreakers is to settle for prize purposes only (if this were to happen in other divisions, I would handle it the same way).
- 2.) best way to put it - as someone in the event staff said:
I completely agree with this.the tiebreaker's purpose is not about putting X amount of players into next round, although you might think that at first. the exception would be the last roundComment
