It's natural for people to want to be liked, and to feel like they belong. I'm fairly sure that is one of psychologies basic principles.

The problem is when someone is online, and they are surrounded by people who do nothing but put them down and make fun of them, given the right person, they can feel like the entire world is against them, especially if they dont have a solid social life/family setting.

Im not saying you should call the cops every time you're called a name online or something, but if people are habitually harassing you, following you around online and spreading shit about you, or even do what happened to me, where online assholes start talking to people you know in real life, who then spread it to everyone you know in school, that really deserves some stiff punishment.
