5.0 excels in literally every aspect possible. 3.9 is inferior.

except you can play sm 3.9 on shitty computers/laptops and do perfectly fine

with sm 5, you need a decent computer for it to run smoothly

SM5 here. My favorite advantage over 3.9 would have to be the ability to pick between 4-key and 6-key charts on the fly. Also, I'm no longer very comfortable playing with a small scroll space.

3.9 for simfile editing and 5.0 for playing.
The only real issue I have with 5.0 is the really slow initial loading times.

if 5.0 can port over notebar (freezes with colored heads plz) then 5.0 would win over 3.9 for me.

it's been done although i'm not sure why you would want it since orbular is clearly superior in every way

I still use 3.9 mostly for making simfiles...because I'm too lazy to mess with both stepping modes in 5.0 and up.

in my opinion it's all about preference. it's true that 5 has everything 3.9 has and more, yet switching from something you are used to, to something that will be wierd for like 2 months, idk not worth it for me. plus i think sm5 looks mad gay

This exactly for me, actually. And the fact that the scores on the default theme dont show up, only the percents, which kinda irks me. I'm so damn surprised this many people play sm5.

Does anyone know how to get the scores to show on the song select screen on the default menu?

Each have their own advantages for me.

3.9- This can run the themes and has downloadable noteskins (I don't know if SSC/SM5 has that as well)
- If I ever go to make a stepfile, I can rely on 3.9.

SM5- The gameplay is more smooth in this version.
- You can select between how many keys you want to play easily (even though I only really play single (4key).
